While I recognise that David Beckham changed the way we played when he came on for England V Belarus, I agree with Andy Townsend that Peter Crouch should have got it.I think Crouch had a great game last night. He held the ball up to bring others into play and was a constant threat to the Belarus goal. Not forgetting of course that he scored two goals for us but it was his all round performance that would have swung it for me. He has to go to South Africa.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8286886.stm

The news link above is the BBC one but this story is all over the meeja. Seems the only way an Englishman can now follow his national team abroad is the expense and agravation of traveling or have a high speed broadband connection ! Now I see the need for a free and open market on sports events. (I have an idea that I will put into another tread along these lines). But this is England not a CL group game.
Football Association chairman Lord Triesman and chief executive Ian Watmore have dismissed suggestions that Fabio Capello will stand down as England manager after the 2010 World Cup.

Full story: Daily Mail

This kind of story worries me guys. If it was to be true and 'arry was going well with us I could see the FA offering 'arry the job. And I think he would take it, and who could blame him if it was so ??? IMO we need 'arry in charge for a good few seasons. Most successfull clubs have ...

Well all told an emphatic performance and nice that Lennon was so involved and got MOM award (no surprises from Tedward eh ?) . The defence still looks shaky and I wonder if it is Upson? At times it looks as though they are not sure who should take responsibility for balls coming thro' the centre. Johnson needs to work on his defending but I think he has the ability. Lampard & Gerrard getting 2 goals each will make it difficult for the doubters to knock their selection. At least I now know ...

Can't keep going with Johnson's crap defending. Use Brown he's be more steady & give Lennon a bit more licence down the right. I also think Milner deserves a start i've been convinced today of lol.

As much as I feel qualifying should be for all teams (the same as I feel the Champs League is a fixed closed shop for the G18) I do wonder if the so called minnows should play a pre-qualifying league?? I think that UEFA likes them because it means more final numbers at the World Cup for European teams and therefore more power for Pratini and the cock Blatter but . . . ...

With Barry out & not much left in the midfield to fill in I'd go 442 & use Rooney left like he does at UTD quite often. I'd even play my hated Gerrard, Lampard pairing in the middle as i expect to see at least 5 or 6 goals.

So I'd go for,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Green

Johnson Upson Terry (A) Cole

Wingnut Gerrard Lampard Rooney

Defoe Heskey

Think that team would be full of goals & make our qualifying more of less inevitable.
