This follows on from the thread on England Vs Ukraine. I see lotterey money being handed out to things like Opera and other niche intrests. I would hazzard a guess that 60/70% of people who buy lotterey tickets have an intrest in sport. Why then doesn't the goverment hand cash over to a broadcaster (the BBC/Sky for example) to bid for all TV rights involving ANY sporting events involving any of the British nations ? It could be free to air and available to all. It could generate extra revenue ...

Intresting to read of the shenanigans going on at Harlequins. RU has always held itself up as an example of how sport should be played and yet we find out that management forces it's players into acts of cheating to try and gain a result. Oh dear. I enjoy RU but have always thought of it as organised violence conducted by middle/upper class thugs who if where working class would be called hooligans. As well, the instigator of the scam was an ex-England international & Police Officer. Oh dear ...

I have to admit I do like my athletics as I used to do a fair bit in my younger days but then probably like the rest of us on here I follow all sports. But ther's nothing quite like SPURS 2 liverpool 1 unless its SPURS 5 arsenal 1.

How nice .We done the whinging, arrogant, irrating accent people at Cricket. Saw quite a lot of this test and it was fascinating. The way momentum & advantage swung throughout was amazing. I questioned Strauss and not enforcing the follow on but I think his decision was based on trying to grind the Aussies into the dust. Kinda worked but not quite enough. The Aussies 2nd innings will have given them some hope. They do seem to have problems tho'. Opening batsman and frontline bowlers. Get ...

I've really not kept up with this test match. As I see it the Aussies have spanked us for 4+ days. But to have got a draw feels like a victory to me. This should knock the arrogence out of those smug Aussies. If Andrew Strauss is any kind of a Captain he will use this to turn what is, as I understand, a quite awful performance from England. Next match I hope he has them fired right up. No individual players, just Team England. Get'em off Welsh soil and back home to England and hopefully we will ...

What are they playing at no one has stood out & even Flintoff while getting the crowd going hasn't really delivered.

Anderson is a good bowler & close to being the best we have at the moment. But one thing i have noticed about him is if he goes for a while without getting a wicket he does get disheartened way to easily & quickly.

Broad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, has been abysmal for the most part,.,,,,,,,,,,, but he brought out one hell of a delivery to get rid of Clarke. But his ...

He's one of the best Batsmen in the World at the moment but has to learn real discipline for the longer form of the game to be a real GREAT.

It's started now & we're 21/0 so far got to love the Ashes Cricket in it's purest form. The whole Cricketing World sits up & listens when it's Ashes time.

Gone with two spinners which i can understand why but i can't believe we've used Panesar he's in no form at all. Rashid would have been my choice much more variation with the ball & a much more accomplished with the bat the younster is.

What a match. He got through but god was it hard work. Lost the first set too easily in my opinion as he just couldn't seem to work his opponents game out. Got the measure of him in the second set but made hard work of the rest of the match. His opponent was no mug, he was tenth in the World last year so it was a measure of how hard Murray was going to have to work to beat Wawrinka. Murray was let down by his poor first serves. If he wants to go any further he has to sort that out. The match ...

Battered Troicky all over the place. He was phenominal again. The power of his serves was spectacular regularly clocking 130 + MPH. His return of serves were devastating leaving his opponent no answer to Murray's game. Slice, forehand, backhand, volley, passing shots were all superb and one brilliant lob from way outside the baseline in the second set was poetry in motion. Can he win it? Possibly but I still think he is a year away yet.
