    International Sport Empty International Sport

Post by Guest Tue Oct 06 2009, 05:38

This follows on from the thread on England Vs Ukraine. I see lotterey money being handed out to things like Opera and other niche intrests. I would hazzard a guess that 60/70% of people who buy lotterey tickets have an intrest in sport. Why then doesn't the goverment hand cash over to a broadcaster (the BBC/Sky for example) to bid for all TV rights involving ANY sporting events involving any of the British nations ? It could be free to air and available to all. It could generate extra revenue by showing adverts before & after any event. It would only have to be on air when an event is actually on. It could show table tennis, equestrian, football or fencing, cricket & rugby or any sport. If 2 or more events clashed there is enough width on digital TV to allow it to broadcast on 2/3 /4 or more channels. Just an idea that would make National sporting events available for all and allow the diverse British people to take pride in their Nations & neighbours sporting acheivments . . . . . .

Hi Baz I read through your board often. Spying on the opposition lol . Good
thread on the pay for view internet Ukraine match. Lets hope this is just a one
off and people boycott the offer. Have visions of several fans all squashed round
one PC squinting at a small screen. As for Rio Ferdinands comments, does he
