While I recognise that David Beckham changed the way we played when he came on for England V Belarus, I agree with Andy Townsend that Peter Crouch should have got it.I think Crouch had a great game last night. He held the ball up to bring others into play and was a constant threat to the Belarus goal. Not forgetting of course that he scored two goals for us but it was his all round performance that would have swung it for me. He has to go to South Africa.

Total joke Baz. Yet more fuel for the Beckham Roadshow unfortunately. I admire Beckham as a man and as a footballer but he is NOT one of the greatest ever. Too one footed, paced & dimensional. OK he had a goodish 30 minutes but 30 minutes was all. Hell if he was so good he would have scored rather than hitting the post ! ! ! ! Yup Crouch or Barry, IMO, should have been named but hey it was an Old Trafford mafia at work last night on T'telly . . . . . .

I agree that lofty boy crouch was by far the best player on the field, and bruce did say last nite that crouch refused to sign for him in the summer, but saying that i think becks done good and he should go to the finals as well as lofty, and as for barry, sorry vis, i think he was pants! just gave the ball away too oftern.

I agree Max Becks should go to SA because he can change a game as an impact sub. However, he shouldn't go at the exspense of our own Lennon.
