SUPER 14 week one results so far

    Post by tressman1 on Sun Feb 14 2010, 02:23

The first Game of the super 14 was the Blues against the Hurricanes with the blues taking a good lead and playing well into the half time break scoring 20 points but forgot how to play in the second half losing 34 -20 not a good start for the Blues if their second half form remains for the rest of the season will be hammered but some teams, not all sunshine for the Hurricanes either with them scoring only one try and that was an intercept they too will lose most games if they dont pick up form.

The next game was the one I saw live the Western Force V the Brumbies with the force losing the number 10 and world class play maker one week from the start of the comp, left the fill the gap with a make shift number 10, it was never going to work and it didn't with the Brumbies running out 15-24 winners on the night, and with two of the 1st teams members missing from this game must be a big chance to do well in this years comp.

Over night there was a South African Derby with the super 14 champions the from 2009 the Bulls winning 54-34 away from home at the Cheetahs, if the Bulls can win away from their homeland thet would again be in with a great chance of winning this years comp.

The Crusaders entertained their New Zealand South Island rivals the Highlanders in Christchurch, with a back line to die for the eight time super champions came at the highlands full throttle, but at half time had a try & a penalty for their dominance, with the second half expected to go the same way the highlanders jolted the crusaders with a comeback that took them within 2 points of the lead, this seemed to ignite that back line and with two more trys ran home winners picking up all 5 points, 32-17 and with 5 of the teams All Blacks still on the side lines they have a great chance to make it a ninth title.

With the Reds seemingly happy to be beaten most weeks in this league it was a big surprise to the NSW Waratahs that with a few minutes to go the Reds seemed home and hose to record a rare victory, as the Waratahs down a man who was sin binned, the Reds clearly surprised to be winning so late in the game managed to give the Waratahs two late trys to be defeated 28 - 30

with the rest of the games played tonight I will update later but here are the results and table as it stands now

    Shaun

Yes you did Burg, this is only round one of the comp, no team wants to be playing their best at this early stage, but still need to get the wins as it is a very short comp, Waratahs were very lucky you could say a 1-0 win, but you would know all about that sort of thing hey Burg's

Complete round one results and table

    Post by tressman1 on Sun Feb 14 2010, 16:11

With the last two game of round one overnight the Stormers beat the Lions 13-26 and to be honest I did not even see a reply of that game so I would be a sad ass to make to many comments on the game except to say no real surprise there, the Stormers normally are the stronger side.

Last game of the weekend was the Sharks V Chief's this game was played in very bad conditions raining nearly all night and the ball very hard to hang on to with the Sharks kicking their way to a lead 3/4 of the way into the game it seemed that they would win with ease, but with a couple of sin bins for shark players the chiefs came back and scored a try to take the lead with 1 minute left, almost from the kick off the Sharks got another penalty to retake the lead, but with seconds left a mistake just outside the Sharks 22 gave a penalty to the Chiefs and with Donald kicking home the penalty the chief win a dramatic game of rugby.

so final results and tables for week 1
