    U21's FINAL

Post by SuneJim on Tue Jun 30 2009, 01:00

Have to say i'm really looking forward to this one. Pity the likes of Lennon, Huddlestone & O'Hara can't be there through injury as it would have been more enjoyable as a Spurs Fan. But England's loss is our gain with fit & rested players next season.

But it's the German's in a Final we have to beat them,,,,,,,,,,,, losing is not a possibility & i reckon we can do it. It's a shame Hart & Campbell are suspended but i'm not that bothered about Agbonlahour i don't think he showed much at all when he played.

As an attacking option i may be bias but young Danny Rose may be in with a chance he did well against Germany in the group game & caused them a bit of trouble with pace & trickery. proud kickups

Ok Burger, I'll make this clear before I post, the following is based on what I saw in the semi, not who they play for. Walcott was shocking and second half Gibbs got pulled all over the place by Swedens sub, fine penalties, but they need to step it up tonight if we have any chance of winning.

Right Pearce's decision to pick Loach was so much a mistake it's unbelievable. Then Wingnut was a waste of space he didn't want to be there & his performances showed that.

But for all the good things Pearce done for the U21's he made a total mess tonight. Changing a CB at half time when your 1-0 down & then after really bad keeping you change another CB & things get worse from there.

Stuart Pearce has proved that he should never be allowed any where near any kind of England management again so e doesn't have the ability to do the job.

walcott went against wenger to play for his country jim, so i dont think that comment is fair, playing him up top on his own was the problem he had 3 defenders around him every time he got the ball, i do agree about pearce tho his tactics were shocking.

Like I said Burger, it was just as I saw it, if there had been any worse players on the pitch, I would have mentioned it, but they were the worse two and to endorse that, along with Mark Noble were the worst again last night, I dont know if its because of the players he players with at Arsenal, but young Gibbs defending was bad, his positional sense was shocking, maybe the arrogance of Wenger is rubbing off onyour players, both looked like they didnt want to be there!!

Pearce BOTTLED IT the two players that caused the Germans problems in the group game with there movement & speed with the ball was Rose & Driver so they should have been brought on to at least give Wingnut some support.

But he stuck with the older players & it went tit's up big time. Brings on Rodwell a player that's used to playing further up the pitch & put him in defence in place of Richards & put Richards up front. Oh how that backfired poor Rodwell in a position foreign to him was the player caught out for the 3rd & 4th goals. Pearce had a shocker.

As for his new contract it should be ripped up now & by Pearce himself after he comes out & admits he's out of his depth & won't darken our doorstep again.

i think it was a bad performance all round dj including the 2 arsenal players, i thought cattermole and noble got overan, our wide players didn provide anything, both full backs got caught out a number of times and walcott was isolated up front, why do you play a small player up top on his own against 3 big defenders begs belief. i agree with everything you say, but dont really see why you have to mention wengers arrogance, that had nothing to do with last night did it. i agree there performances were bad i cant how wenger influenced that, especially when he does very little for english football according to many on here.

Isnt that the position thats been earmarked for him in the prem? If so, theres lots of big defenders there, as for Wengers arrogance, his failed to buy the players you need for the last 4 fruitless seasons, to enable you to get back to where you used to be, I guess you would call that belief. As he spends most of the year with them Burger he must have some influence on them. Any road up, fortunately for yous Clichy will be back and Gibbs can learn from an excellent left back, maybe after a couple of good games in the prem he started believing his own publicity. As for Walcott, will he ever fulfil his promise?

arsenal wont play theo up top on his own im sure, and gibbs was superb coming in as back up for glichy when he got injured, so i dont what your point is dj tbh, it may be your obvious hatred for arsenal coming thru. as for wengers signings i would rather have nasri, rvp and arshavin instead of bent bentley and pav any day, and they were alot cheaper too, if you want to go down the road of signing players be my guest.

as for walcott fullfilling his promise lol, he will be going to his second world cup next year at the ripe old age of 21, hes played 8 times for his country scoring 3 goals, he has been a valuable member of an england unbeaten world cup qualifying run and will become a regular at arsenal next year as well, im sure if you ask any 21 year old is that fullfillment enough, im sure most of them would take it, ps the lad had a bad injury too last season, as for gibbs he did a superb job when he came in to our depleted defence last year, so the comment he may be beliving in his own press makes you sound a bit bitter and twisted my ole fruit, now if its debate you want fire ahead, but your constant knocking of these very YOUNG lads is making you sound a bit of an idiot.

Christ, I knew you get defensive, I felt I made some valid points and now youve gone on abt comparing signings by a manager/director of football that are no longer at the club. I dont hate Arsenal, i infact admire the way they play, I havent targeted you, your an Arsenal supporter and my opinion was that for two games two Arsenal players were the worst on the pitch and asked your opinion why, I then posted why i thought they had two awful games and youve taken umbrage to that, put me on ignore, but thts the childish way out, If Spurs had anyone playing and they played that badly and you commented, I would have replied with a what I thought the reason was, but hey ho thought that was what this forum was for.

I can't see why our old friend, foe, nemesis and the only goner brave enough to post on here regular, The Burger Van Man lol! has put DJ on ignore ? DJ is a partisan fan and will obviously knock our rivals, but I don't think the attack was personal just maybe a dig at the woolwich gypsies ? Awhile ago I posted on the arsenil section of the Bubble Blowers board a gentle yet humorous dig about the goners crowing so loud about the youth & ladies FA Cups. An old AOhell poster, ANichol got the hump so much they told me to P*** off. Just made me laugh that I'd got a reaction. I saw the final and I thought gibbs was ok but walnut was truely awful. The bits of the other games I saw he was awful. Why he pi**ed off whinger to go I cannot understand, he should of stayed at home. OK he scored a hattrick against Croatia but that for me is all he's done so far. Should he perhaps move away from the eminamingritEs to further his career ? I think so . . . . .

you are allowed that opinion i have no prob with that vis, but the lad is only young and is only coming back from a bad injury and was played up front on his own, i agree he had a nightmare in the final but would like people just to look at the bigger picture, please dont think dj chat about walcott has led to the ignore, its abit deeper than that.

I have to say when it comes to Wingnut,,,,,,,,,,, he had a cracking game against Croatia & got a well deserved hatrick. But every thing he done prior & after that has me completely flummoxed as to what he's done to even he worth a place in the squad let alone first 11. He's been totally ineffectual at U21 & Full England level.

I think he's got a lot more to learn & that will result in him having alot more to offer. But at the moment the Lad is treading water & needs some thing to happen to push on. The defencive side of his game is lacking & he has no strength either. All he has is pace & until he adds to that repertoire he's going no where fast. In my humble opinion.

Deeper than what for christ sake, ive not been rude to you, ive just made obsevations on what i thought over two games were the worst two players, they just happen to play for Arsenal, admittly being a Spurs fan, thats a bonus, just wanted an opinion ,as an Arsenal fan, as to why Gibbs has played very well in the prem, but has been very ordinary playing for his country, I called Wenger arrogant, mainly because he is and that if you are under his tutelage then that arrogance may rub off on the younger players and maybe, just maybe account for both Gibbs and Walcotts performances for their country, now can anyone tell me wtf ive done wrong to upset Burger so much?

walcott has loads to learn jim, and your right in picking up on his defensive frailities and his lack of strength, as an arsenal fan i hope for the very best for walcott (obviously) and i can see as spurs fans you dont want him to succeed (obviously), but i think judging the guys performance and consistantcy levels at the moment are a little unfair on him, maybe thats me being over protective, but he has had a bad injury, he is still only 20, and there is no one at arsenal, well certainly not me thats saying any different, we see potential but ive seen potential in many a youngster that did not go on to great things so i aint getting on my hi horse about walcott yet, but i aint listening to football comments about him just because who he plays for, i did not watch any of the u 21s except for the final and walcott was rubbish, gibbs marginally better but somewhere in the tourney they must of done something right, anyway im finished with subject now. lets keep the walcott debate in the locker for now, and if he scores a hatrick against the yids next season, maybe then we can bring the subject to life again. lol!
