    Vertonghen deal hits rocks ???

Post by Maximus on Wed Jun 27 2012, 18:51

Vertonghen, 25, has been strongly linked with a switch to Tottenham his summer and on Tuesday the player's agent expressed his hope that an agreement will soon be struck.

But the Belgium international has suggested the deal is now off, with the defender prepared to return to training with Ajax ahead of entering the final year of his contract with the Eredivisie side.

"This is a shame. I thought that it would be sorted out much sooner," Vertonghen told Algemeen Dagblad."As it looks now, I'll be at Ajax on July 2. I'm hoping for a solution, but I'm not expecting a solution.

"I have one advantage: Ajax have got a good coach who knows me. I play in a good, stable squad. Let's become champions with Ajax for the third time in a row.
