I reckon this is for cover & what he does on the training ground & in the dressing room . . . .

Brad Friedel signs new Tottenham deal until 2014
    Friedel _64940151_brad_friedel_getty624b
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel has agreed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2014.

Friedel, who joined Spurs from Aston Villa in 2011, has made 49 appearances for the London side and will be 43 by the end of the new deal.

The US international, who has 82 caps, has lost his place as first-choice keeper to Frenchman Hugo Lloris.

He has played in the Premier League since 1997 and has also had spells with Liverpool and Blackburn.

Friedel remains the only Premier League player to make more than 300 consecutive starts and at 41 is currently the oldest player in the division.

He came to England in 1997 with Liverpool and moved to Blackburn three years later, making more than 300 appearances for the Ewood Park club.

Aston Villa bought him for £2.5m in 2008 and he stayed at Villa Park for three years before his move to Spurs.

Lloris is the best goalie ive seen at spurs since Jennings , Friedel signs as cover that's pretty obvious , and to play cup games , a smart move , he is still a world class goal keeper .

So long Carlo and thanx for all the motorcycle accidents! ! ! I wish him well. He was a fine deputy for better 'keepers . . . .

Carlo Cudicini: Spurs goalkeeper leaves for LA Galaxy

Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini has left Tottenham to sign for Los Angeles Galaxy on a free transfer.

The Italian, 39, joined Spurs on a free transfer from Chelsea in January 2009, making 37 appearances in four years.

Cudicini moved to Chelsea in 1999 from Castel di Sangro, winning the Premier League twice, but has largely been backup to first-choices Heurelho Gomes and Brad Friedel at White Hart Lane.

A Tottenham statement read: "We wish Carlo all the best for the future."

Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena said: "We are delighted to be able to add Carlo Cudicini to our roster.

"Carlo is an experienced and accomplished goalkeeper, who we believe will be a great addition to our team and our defensive unit."
