Corinthians have confirmed that negotiations are gathering pace with Tottenham regarding the transfer of Paulinho.
The Brazil international, who is currently impressing in the Confederations Cup, has long been linked with a move to Europe with Tottenham among the clubs interested.
Spurs were yet to have firmed up their interest as recently as last week, but reports now suggest that a £17million bid for the midfielder has been accepted.Very Happy

Paulinho is a box-to-box midfielder who "is a strong and powerful runner, pushing his side forward from midfield to supplement his fine defensive work. Paulinho also offers a useful presence in set piece situations at both ends of the pitch

If it happens it's a start but lets hope the next one's a striker and the one after that.

Paulinio sounds very much like Sandro. Do we need 2 in the same mould and they wont' both play at the same time will they?

We do seem to have this obsession with MF players at the moment.

no use having great strikers if midfield cant surply the forwards you dont dominate midfield you wont win many games anyhow.

lets hope they have a 20+ goalscorer in mind or it wont matter anyhow.

so we we got left 33m out of our warchest left.

That's what I mean if we only have a budget of 50 mil then why spend 17 of it on a player that is in the mould of one we already have  Sandro?

If we have to have a MF player then a playmaker is what is needed more than a defensive one.

If we had unlimited resources then fine, get in good players as cover the same way that the top 3 do but we don't have their money, so it should , in my opinion,be spent on what is desperatly needed STRIKERS !!!

He's more talented than Sandro in an article I was reading earlier although the writer said they both have shades of each other Paulinho is far more talented and has a much better pass than Sandro. He also scores goals.

Scored against England Baz and is more adaptable then Sandro, more in the mould of Ramires at Cheatski, box to box that can score goals.

I read today he's aware of Spurs offer but is not making any decisions yet and is keeping his options open.

In other words he's waiting for a bigger club and CL. football.

Paulinho had also been linked with Serie A duo Inter Milan and Roma, but has confirmed he cannot reject the chance to move to White Hart Lane.

The noises I'm hearing are that terms are agreed with Corinthians and all that is really left is for little Paul to agree terms and sign.

Franco is, allegedly, in the process of finalising the Villa deal.

Lots of rumours abounding that we are in for Benteke and Lamela/Bernard, although Bernard's price keeps going up.

THAT would be a Carlsberg transfer window!

If we pulled that off then we are title challengers as far as I'm concerned. Outsiders maybe, but challengers regardless.

Chelsea could be the fly in the ointment though.Apparently they want him. If that is true then I think we will be waving bye,bye to Paulinho.

I do feel that if we do not bring in the players we need to make a big impact on the top four positions next season we could be in trouble. AVB might feel betrayed by Levy as he thought the money would be available to bring in the players needed to compete with the big four, and as for Bale?, well if he does not see us making a move in the transfer market that influences him to stay, he could decide to leave because he sees it as a lack of ambition. Seebee, you are right mate, Real are becoming a pain, they seem to be chasing everybody. As for the interest they are showing in Paulinho, could it be that they are trying to sabotage us strengthening our squad in order to lure Bale into joining them?, look at us, we have ambition, so much to offer come on Gareth don't be a fool what do Spurs have to offer?, you know it makes sense. I read that other clubs have signed players and wonder why not us?, dragging our heels as usual.

Not like we ain't trying Len, Paulinho has all but joined, what do Cheatski or Real want with him when they have numerous internationals getting splinters up their a*se? These players can't officially be signed as the windows not open yet.

I thought the window was open Dave. I have read certain club's are signing certain players, must be a gentleman's agreement until they put pen to paper I suppose. Mind you I feel that Real seem to have been trying to sign Bale since he learnt how to kick a ball. I wish Levy would lay this to rest and just be honest, does he want to keep Bale or is he just playing the waiting game. Surely he should have made a deal with Bale by now so he can put pen to paper and lay this to rest. The talk today is, Real are prepared to offer Arsenal target striker Gonzalo Higuain and left back Fabio Coentrao as well as a large sum of money to secure a deal. Be nice to get one over on the gooners. Another paper said they are prepared to offer winger Angel Di Maria as well as cash. Now I wonder if AVB would be happy with these offers, that these are the kind of players that it would be worth letting Bale leave for. What do you all think, deal or no deal?.

Paper talk Len, nothings happening and they got column inches to fill, so they just make things up, apparently Arsenal big wigs was in Spain to sign Higuain, yet still nothing, like
we keep saying, until they are holding the shirt at either WHL or the new training complex or the Bernabeau, it aint happened!!
One thing that has happened is AVB HAS gone to the press and has been assured Bale is not leaving.

Em, no smoke without fire Dave. The latest news is that Bales agent has this week been in touch with Real officials. I better post this in the Bale topic, going off track here. Started with Paulhino and got onto Bale.

It's also been stated that Paulino wants insurances that Bale is staying. Tht sounds promising.

See he got the winner the other night, would compliment Sandro and Dembele nicely, pace and power, teams wont walk through our midfield anymore, cant wait for the confederations cup
to finish and the window to officially open on Monday, so we can get started.

Big problem now of course, he's been in the shop window for a couple of weeks and has been impressive when he plays.

I just hope that what he said about us is true that he like the way we play and wants to come here.

The deciding factor for me is that if he goes to Cheatski and although they have a couple of Brazilians there to help him settle, he will get rotated as Ramieres is too similar a player, no, much better at ours with the nutter Sandro!!

Paulinho: Brazil midfielder completes move to Tottenham

Brazil midfielder Paulinho has joined Tottenham from Corinthians for a fee of just under £17m.

Paulinho, who starred in Brazil's Confederations Cup triumph, passed a medical before finalising his contract.
The 24-year-old arrived in London on Thursday and met Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas and chairman Daniel Levy.

"I am very happy and excited to have joined Spurs. It's a huge pleasure for my career to be at a club as big as Tottenham," Paulinho said.

Real Madrid also showed an interest in Paulinho, who has also played for Lithuanian side FC Vilnius and Polish club LKS Lodz.

Sao Paulo-born Paulinho scored 34 goals in 167 games for Corinthians and played in his country's 3-0 win over Spain in the Confederations Cup final.

He also played for Corinthians in their Club World Cup final win over Chelsea in December.

He has made a total of 17 appearances for Brazil and scored five times, including goals in their 3-0 Confederations Cup win against Japan and the 2-1 semi-final victory over Uruguay.

Earlier this month, when announcing he would leave Corinthians, Paulinho said: "What I have to say to Corinthians is 'see you soon'.

"Pretty soon I'll be back, owing to everything you have done for me."
