Former Tottenham goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt has told talkSPORT that he has never seen club play such good football.
Since being beaten by Manchester United and Manchester City in their opening two games, Spurs have won eight and drawn one of their nine games, which has seen them climb up to third in the Premier League.
And Thortvedt, who starred between the sticks for Spurs in the early 90s, believes the club’s squad has no real weaknesses now Kyle Walker and Scott Parker have been added to their starting XI.
He told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “I know they scored a tremendous amount of goals in the early 60s and won the double but I have never seen Spurs play as well as they do now. It’s just a joy to watch, they’re just a bloody good team.
“They can play possession, they can explode down the flanks and in the match against Aston Villa they just passed them to death, Barcelona are supposed to do that but now Tottenham can do it as well.
“I can’t really see any weaknesses. The right full-back spot, which has had a bit of a wobble of the last few seasons, now has Kyle Walker playing really well there. I wouldn’t swap Benoit Assou-ekotto with any left-back in the Premier League, to be honest.
“If they can get into the top four I would be delighted, I’m not asking for more. We don’t have to go back more than three weeks when Fulham played them off the park and lost 3-1 in the end. Tottenham aren’t the world’s greatest team yet but they’re doing do well, they’re not just winning, they’re winning in style, scoring lots of goals.
“Tottenham have got a balance in the team, in midfield Luka Modric and Scott Parker who are just [levelling] each other’s weaknesses out and playing so well together. Aaron Lennon has got going well again, he was down in the dumps for a long while but now he’s on fire and obviously with Bale on the other flank.”
But Thorstvedt has warned Spurs fans to enjoy their current run because there could be problems on the horizon.
He added: “Emmanuel Adebayor is a slight worry he tends to be really motivated for about six months and then he tends to lose interest, so that could happen. Then you’ve got Harry Redknapp’s court case coming up so there are a few clouds in the sky still but we’ve got to just enjoy it while it is as good as it is now.”
