Levy will stay sane in a mad world.

Though I shouldn`t be surprised, it still amazes me
that fans are critical of our clubs lack of ambition in the transfer
market, especially when we still have six weeks to go.

    If only
everything in life was as simply as buying and selling footballers. A
quick phone call, offer XXX and the player drives to the training ground
and signs on the dotted line, similarly with selling, just make the
player available and the phone will not stop ringing, with every club
offering more than the asking price...

    Suddenly I read that our
Chairman lacks ambition because he wouldn`t pay Joe Cole what he
probably wasn't worth. No disrespect to Cole, who is a player I rate, but
everyone has their price and judging by the massive numbers Liverpool
are suggested to have offered, the price wasn`t right for Mr Cole.

    I
know that all fans look at deals by their club with emotion and hearts
rule heads in 99% of them, but we have to be realistic in our
expectations and although we all want the best, we have to accept that
players will look elsewhere and clubs will sometimes pay silly money for
    whatever reason.

Personally I applaud Daniel Levy for making a
reasonable offer and not being held to ransom. Although I see the
benefits of Cole joining Liverpool over Spurs beyond money, we shouldn`t
get carried away at our sudden status as a Champions league club, and
Levy and Co certainly wont and nor should they.

    Is't it great that
we show ambition in bringing in players, but surely we have to
understand that we need to maintain stability over financing a dream
which could easily turn into a nightmare. Pay one player 100 grand a
week and suddenly everyone else wants parity and that is a sticky slope
for any club, without the guarantee of CL football season on season.

    Perhaps
I am wrong, but I would prefer to have no Champions league and have a
club that is run well, than end up hundreds of millions in debt to chase
a dream we might never fulfil...

Bravo!! its only the clubs like us and dare i say it the goons, thats gonna save footie from dying a death, yer average man struggles to pay for a match as it is and if we all keep giving into these agents and players and soon not many will be able to afford to go to matches.
