    From the Spurs Club website.

    THE DOS SANTOS RIDDLE

After another sparkling display in last night's victory over Benfica, I
have been wondering what the agenda is with Gio Dos Santos.

    Clearly
every Spurs fan you speak to has pretty much loved him from day 1 and
would be delighted for us to keep him. Most would even welcome the lad
being given his chance in the squad proper, so why are we still hearing
stories about swap deals, loans and sales?

    Harry hasn't exactly
got Rafa Benitez's 'eye for a player' so he must be able to see what we
see. Gio is pacey, has quick feet, gets into space brilliantly, has good
vision and can finish - I've even seen him chasing back and putting in
solid tackles recently! Yet Harry seems incapable of publically backing
the lad., all we hear is the "must knuckle down" sort of comments.

    The
thing is, Gio was the young player of the tournament at the World Cup,
impressed me in his second half cameo against Villarreal and worked his
socks off last night. What more does he have to do? We clearly have a
need for a tricky second striker/in-the-hole type player and if Dos
Santos is good enough for AC Milan (alledgedly) then he must be able to
    do a job for us.

I'm now wondering if this is just the legendary
Redknapp man-management in action. It seems like insanity to give up a
young player with this kind of genuine potential just because he likes a
party or two. I can only assume that Harry knows what works with the
player, and in his case the stick is more effective than the carrot.
Time to give him his chance now though don't you think?

    We can't
seriously be about to sell him can we? If Keane goes he's a ready made
replacement, a seat on the bench every week as one of the 4 strikers
would be seen as apromotion for the player, so I expect he'd be happy. A
perfect impact player when we need to beat the team bus against
    Blackpool?

I for one would be delighted for him.

Even though Dos Santos had a decent World Cup & Pre-Season, i have this feeling that Harry is still going to offload the lad. I for one like him and hope we hang onto him, he is a great talent and has bags of skill, but he is still very young and learning. At Galatasaray, they loved the player and wanted to swap him for their left winger Arda Turan, but it didnt happen. Fingers crossed, i hope he stays.

Does 'arry feel he is cut out for the Premier League ? We've been posting elsewhere about part of our 'yoof' policy being the buying of young, raw talent but eventually the manager & his staff have to make a decision about a player being suitable for Spurs. Now I wouldn't trust 'arry to do my tax returns but I would trust his judgement on young players . . . . . .

I think it may come down to whether the player himself has the patience to hang about. Same thing with whats happened with Tarrabt at the moment. Also, look at Pavlyuchenko last Season, he only got a handful of games and it was the fans voice which got him a few games in the end. If only the fans had more of a voice in these situations, at the end of the day we're the ones who know the players just as well.

Theres every chance dos santos will turn out to be another long running adel taarabt saga with those for and those against.
Dont get me wrong i want all our players to be successful but i didnt think adel was quite there for the premiership and i am unsure about giovani .
I think we will all have to wait for time to confirm if both these players will be a football success story.

Getting rid of GDS would be a mistake IMO. Loaning him wouldn't be too bad if arry feels that there's enough cover, but a player that can come on and 'maybe' do something that forces a goal is too precious to let go permanently.
You haven't faced the injuries sick list like we have in recent years (i'll leave the Anderton jokes out for now lol) and I think with CL this year you might get to see the value of a GDS in the wings. (not the playing position literally)

Haven't faced an injury sick list? You are joking of course. Bale, Lennon, Modric, King, Woodgate, Ekotto, Defoe, Cudicini, lol. We have had nothing but injuries even when Jol was there.

I'm not to sure about Gio he has some good spells in games but then drifts out and looks less effective over 90 min. Even In the WC he looked good in short bursts, but I would certainly want to keep him now, as he has shown in the last few weeks that he possibly could be a real talent.
But more importantly they are talking about a swop for Huntelar and that is one very overated player and I don't want to see him at the lane. He seems to move clubs every 6 months and plays a few games and is dropped. If he came to us he would hardly get a game so we don't want him. In my Opinion.
