Tottenham have tabled a new improved £25m bid for Newcastle striker Andy Carroll, reports The Sun.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy made the offer for the England ace, 22, directly to Toon chief Mike Ashley yesterday.
The package of a £22m fee with another £3m to follow would shatter
Tottenham’s current transfer record which is the £16.5m they paid to
Charlton for Darren Bent in 2007.
Harry Redknapp is apparently desperate to land the forward who has scored 11 goals so far this season.

Its crazy to think he's out for the next 2 months and we put in a 25 mill bid, we are making ours selfs look stupid , arry said we not buying anyone now , then i read we will sell robbie for parker and we put in a bid for an injured striker, when will this club ever learn how to deal in the transfer market , this stinks of desperation, and we do this ever time, rasiak last minute deal, vdv last minute deal even arry said he didnt want him originally, we just lost out on suarez cos of some bullshigh nosion that he wont cut it here , what a load of ballacks and carroll with his girly locks will ? , just because hes played half a season in the prem and got a call up for the england squad when they were desperate

    this really infuriates me

Newcastle have reportedly rejected a new £23million bid from Tottenham for England striker Andy Carroll.

The England international has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, bagging 11 Premier League goals before being sidelined by a thigh injury.

Carroll's displays in leading the line for the Magpies has attracted interest from a number of rival top-flight teams, with Harry Redknapp keen to bring the powerful forward to White Hart Lane.

The North East club are determined to retain the services of their star man and have rebuffed all offers for his services, with Spurs' latest offer drawing a terse response.

A high-ranking Newcastle official told Sky Sports News: "The club would like to make it clear for the very last time that Carroll is simply not for sale."

The source went on to describe the bid from Tottenham as 'paltry in the current climate'.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew has always stressed his determination to keep hold of his key players during January as he looks to establish the club back in the top flight.

And with the transfer window due to close at 11pm on Monday, it remains to be seen if Spurs will return with an improved offer.

Has everyone gone mad ? the owner of newcastle wanted to flog the club a couple of years back for around £80 mill, and now the mug wants in excess of £23 mill for a player with loads of potential but nothing more...............mad. mad mad mad
