Tottenham's new man Khumalo can be the next Radebe! Former favourite Mabbutt full of praise for South African defender

    Former Tottenham captain Gary
Mabbutt has praised the club’s signing of centre-back Bongani Khumalo,
claiming the player can become the next Lucas Radebe.
    The
South African international arrived at White Hart Lane from his native
team Supersport United earlier this month for £1.5million, and Mabbutt
believes the 24-year-old has all the ingredients to make a big impact at
    the club.
    He
said: ‘I have seen him play while out in South Africa, he has got
excellent potential. Obviously he still has to get used to the move to
England and how he settles remains to be seen. Having said that, he is
capable of being a top class player for Tottenham.

Case for the defence: Bongani Khumalo celebrates after scoring for South Africa against France at last summer's World Cup

‘He has the mentality and the
attributes and he may get his chance sooner or later due to injuries to
other players. Looking at the talent coming out of South Africa over the
years he could become the new Lucas Radebe.’

Took me ages to remember it Dave, ended up having to do a bit of googletective work! If as finer player as Mabs reckons he has something then he will worth a look, but as he says a lot will depend on how he settles in this country . . . . .

Didn't he also score in a behind closed doors friendly at Chigwell a couple of weeks ago when woody played his first comeback game.
