II have just finshed watching the Apprentice on TV and
something just struck me. If Harry had been in the boardroom with big
Al, how would he defend himself when Nooky bear says to him 'Harry, you
were the manager, it was your task to lead, to get results, and you
effed it up. Why shouldn't I fire you? I am certain Harry's reply would
go along the lines of. 'It's not my fault, sir', 'he made me do it',
'everyone else was doing it', 'nobody told me I wasn't supposed to do
that', 'that's the way I've always done it'. Excuses, excuses from
surely the best dodger in the business.
Cue Lord Sugar. 'Harry,
I'm looking at your CV, and from where I'm sitting, let me tell you, it
ain't pretty. You showed a tremendous loyalty by leaving Portsmouth and
joining their biggest rivals Southampton. When you got them relegated
you upped and left again going back to and then you bankrupted
Porttsmouth.' By this stage Harry's twitch is registering on
seismometers around the world. 'Well Sug, you know, Bobby Moore was my
best mate, and he died, but before he died, he said Harry, you are the
best English manager in the south of England. And you know, I'm proud of
that, I really am. I recognised Pompey were going down, and I jumped
off a sinking ship, come on Lord Sug, you would do the same.' Cue Sug
again, 'Harry, I am fed up with your excuses, I don't like schmooers, I
don't like bullsh1tters, I don't like people who hide behind excuses and
don't take responsibilty for their actions, Harry, you're fired.'
Ok,
you can see where this is going. Harry has made excuse after excuse
everywhere he has been. It is never his fault, and yes, sometimes you
give the benefit of the doubt. However, what has really irked me was 2
things that have appeared in the press today. Firstly let me say Harry
was full of excuses for not finishing 1,2,3,4, last season. Every game
was something positive, something against us, then the fans are idiots,
never had it so good stories, etc, etc. Today, I have read about Phil
Jones almost certainly being a man utd player, and within minutes, I
read quotes from Harry saying, 'We were in for Phil Jones', if Man Utd
hadn't got him, he's a great signing, etc, etc, etc.' How does Harry get
these quotes out so fast. If we were 'IN' for Jones, why was there no
bid? Why do we not hear any of these stories from Levy?
Is Harry
shell bidding to bump up the price and the receive a big backhander
from Blackburn?? ... allegedly.....who knows? Does he have a red phone
that lights up every time a transfer happens??? He picks it up and gives
quotes to hacks who are to lazy to actually write an article. The
second thing that riled me today was another article where I read that
Harry said he hope Daniel Levy would buy 3 top quality players to make
the team challenge the top 4. Wow, this is an excuse before the transfer
window has even happened. Before the season has kicked off. Let me
blame the chairman for not buying the players to make this team great.
It smacks of ' I told you so, when it all goes wrong.'
These 2
stories have really wound me up today, and it shows why Harry will never
take responsibility for his failures as a manager. There are things he
should not be discussing with the press and to openly challenge your
chairman in front of the press and fans is one mistake too far that
Harry has made. He has underestimated Daniel Levy at his peril. For, if
as I believe Levy is a shrewd businessman, he has showed he can also be
ruthless when need be, and I am hoping that this challenge to his
authority by Redknapp is the one that makes Levy realise that Spurs, as a
club have come as far as we can under Redknapp.
So, I leave the
final word from Daniel Levy to Harry Redknapp. ' Harry, you are a very
likeable fellow and I know, you will carry on doing what you love, but
it's not going to be at Spurs. Harry, with regret, You're Fired.'

You're mad, mate. Everyone can see we need 3
players. Everyone looks to reinforce this time of year. Are you saying
Harry is wrong? We don't need to sign anyone? Crouch/Defoe are good
enough? We could do with Shawcross, Drogba (great rumours sprouting
here) and a younger striker. The strikers we get should be able to 'hold
the line' and also be effective in a partnership to give us many
options. Levy also knows we need to improve, but I feel will be using
his own judgement more because Harry's fairly crap at signing strikers.
Harry to stay.

OH dear, another unbalanced article ...Harry
was at a charity Golf event yesterday that Sky were at , and as they
were interviewing him they asked him what did he think of Phil Jones to
the Manure....so he said what he thought of him, said we'd tried to get
him as well and then went onto praise the lad and his old mate
Fergie....
Some people really need to grow up a bit.
