Diarra has fallen out of favour since Real signed Sami Khedira in 2010

Tottenham are close to completing a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra for a reported £10m.

The 26-year-old joined Real from Portsmouth for £20m in 2008 and has scored one goal in 89 appearances.

Paris-born Diarra, who has 28 caps for France, started his
career with Le Havre before joining Chelsea in 2005 and Arsenal two
    years later.

Tottenham are also in talks with Manchester City over a loan move for Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

    More to follow.

sh*t this is the begining of the end. We will become Portsmouth in disguise with Redknapp calling all the shots. So long Luka and welcome to an average replacement who has scored 1 goal in 89 games. Oh what total class. If it wasn't so despearate I'd be sobbing . . . .

Tottenham are close to completing a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra for a reported £10m.

Tottenham are also in talks with Manchester City over a loan move for Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

If both players arrive at White Hart Lane, attention is sure to focus on how Spurs boss Harry Redknapp juggles a squad that already includes a number of established midfielders and forwards.

Redknapp's midfield options include Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Sandro, Wilson Palacios, Luka Modric and Niko Kranjcar.

In wide and attacking positions he has Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon, Rafael van der Vaart, Steven Pienaar, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe.

Chelsea have made bids of £22m and £27m for Modric, but Spurs insist the Croatian is staying put.

Crouch and Palacios, meanwhile, are subject to offers from Stoke.

I can't believe you blokes. He is a good player. OK so he don't score many goals nor does Modric. He aint a f*cking striker is he? He is basically a defensive CM. Who gives a f*ck how many goals he scores. How many has Palacios scored or Fruend when he played for us. Zokora?

    Absolute quality signing this.

Better than every midfielder we currently have for the DM role and yes, I do include Sandro there. I believe Sandro will be one of the best in the World in the role in the fullness of time, but Diarra is currently ahead of him, which puts him ahead of all the other midfielders we have for the role.

You boys forget something else, most of our midfield is crocked, particularly, you guessed it, our defensive midfielders. Bringing him in now couldn't be better timing.

We've been consistently 'trading up' on the quality of our players for the last 10 seasons, why stop now when we're on the verge of title winning quality?

You can never 'not need' players who are a clear improvement on what you currently hold.

Quality signing i did say we would sign him about 3 weeks ago crystalball hes played for Arsenal Chelsea and Madrid crap isnt he lmao. We had Zokora got better in Sgt Wilson till his brother died then he went bobbins got Sandro whos going to be quality Diarra better then all them cant wait for Adabadhairday though pleeeeeeease get him in quickly. Will that be it then or will Levy and Arry pull something out of the bag on Deadline Day like VDV last year

Why do we need another midfirlder who can't score goals ? We already have Thudd, Modric, Sandra who fit that bill . . . .

I dont know what to make of this signing to tell the truth, a defensive midfielder, when we have sandro,?
But i trust harry and i really think he wanted parker but with west ham turning down a £4 mill bid from someone the other day i reckon he is going for the younger option, as levy doesnt want to invest in aged players.

Just edit this to say it seems parker is a no go due to the west ham board refusing to do business because of the olympic stadium fuss.

Dont think harry is buying him to score goals vis ! if it were for that reason, and looking at his ratio 1 goal from 89 appearances you would be mad to sign the bloke.
Its obvious that he,s to prevent goals, toughen up the midfield etc etc.
