    europa league Empty europa league

Post by shearspur Sat Sep 21 2013, 08:09

can I ask do any of you enjoy these games now? im getting to the stage where I find them so boring now. yeah we won 3-0 easily but who are tromso (all due respect) but come on, with the resources we have we bloody well should have doubled that score. all I see it as, is hoping our players come out of it without injury , which they didn't. who we playing next , sherriff, who the f are they ? its becoming a ridiculous competition compounded by the champs lge failures dropping in halfway through. nah not for me now, I used to rate it but not now. I would rather concentrate on the league and play a stronger team in the league cup / fa cup competitions. try and win a domestic cup rather than risk players in a long drawn out comp like Europa. I used to go to some of the early group games if we drew some decent opposition but not now, the atmosphere is crap, the players aren't up for it imo no matter what they tell the media. ericksens face said it all about his wonder goal in the post match interview, he wasn't excited. all it is now is a money making scheme for smaller clubs and uefa. its a decent enough trophy if your lucky enough to win it but at what cost to your league position and domestic trophy ambitions . just my opinion but I would rather not be in it now . over to you lads.

    erikson
    soldado

I would like to see us win the Europa league or any cup competition as it's been a long time. However I agree that our priority is top 4 and to many cup games, even though we have a stronger squad now than at any time in the past few seasons could put a stop to us reaching that with a few injuries.

So I think the following team could get us a good way in the Europa and League cup with out upsetting the main 1st eleven and possibly could win at least the league cup.

    Freidel
    Naughton Kaboul Capoue Chiriches.
    Townsend Holtby Siggy Chadli
    Adeimustpaymyway Kane

I think that team would finish at least mid table if it was in the prem and it would save our top squad from injuries and keep them fresh.

It would also make that parasite Ade work for his £150 grand a week but please don't put him in the first team.

I am a fan of the Europa but I do dislike it's format. This group League seems pointless. Poor mans Chumps League so make it a straight knock-out cup and may the best team win. Saying that if we were in the Chumps League we would be having to play these type of group games so the squad we have if not good enough or capable of the Europa games & Premier League then we sure wouldn't be if in Chumps League. Good training for the games that are required to be involved at the highest levels . . . .

tromso norwegian, sherriff moldovan, anzi, Russian, just trip off your tongue don't they , hardly an inspiring line up to get you pumped up is it.thurs sunday just don't do it for me now. must be getting old. when we weren't in European comp I used to pray for it, now its a bit of a bind after so long. just would rather concentrate on domestic cups at home rather than thurs night travelling to Russia ( not me , the team lol ) maybe picking up injury spoiling our season when it matters ala bale last season cost us 4th surely . like vis said if it was straight knockout be better.

It should be as it used to be. 2 games home and away every round. Hate the format now.

made me laugh, heard gooners taking the piss about us only getting 26000 in on thurs. imagine if they were in it they be lucky to get 16000 I reckon. it does let people take their kids as its normally reduced prices for early rounds but the atmosphere is poor, so the new kids get a bad impression of what a league game is like to be at. shame when you think back and the memories I have of being at the final v Anderlecht. "don't fix what aint broke" . never been more apt.

Sadly it's all about money that's why the CL and the EL have been expanded to get in more games and more money for UAFA.

It's not going to change until football eats itself and all the clubs in Europe say we want change.

I'm sure most clubs would prefer to go back to the way it was but it needs all the major countries to get together for it to happen.

The other point is and Lought touched on it earlier, we all want top 4 to get us in the CL but what's the point if you don't have a hope of winning it. Real, Barca, Bayern and PSG are the teams that will.

Lets just concentrate on being the best in our own country and then see what happens.

The problem is Mikey, lots of clubs us included know they won't win the CL but it's a cash cow and as we have said many times before, the top players rarely want to go to a club that hasn't got CL football. We were lucky to get Lamella and Eriksen to come to us but that isn't the norm usually.

I'm with Lought on this. It is a way of keeping the squad happy and fit, should they be called on in the Prem. We have a big squad full of quality players and as there is no reserve league, when will they play? Once every 3/4 weeks in the league cup until the FA in January. Once the first group stage is finished and CL drop outs join, you get better matches. You get just as many cloggers in the Prem, ask Charlie Adams, so Rose's injury could happen any time and I hear Vlad can play there as well as Verts and Naughton. Looking at Cheatski and Pool yesterday and what I have seen of the 2 Manc teams and our nearest and dearest, I would be shocked if we don't make at least 4th and watch out for Everton, as Martinez has added a bit of flair to the steel that was already there, only unbeaten team in the Prem.

Surprisingly I think it will be more difficult this year to make top 4.
I don't see a lot of change with the usual suspects.

City looked good today and Chelsea have so much talent that I'm sure Mourinio will get them on a run and Utd although they have started indifferntly they are Utd and you can't imagine them being out of the top 4. That leaves Arse, and worringly whinger has them on a roll with Odil pulling the strings, Pool and us.

We have to start scoring goals and not rely on penalties and injury time saviours. With all this possesion we should be putting teams away earlier. We've only lost the one game unfortunatly it was against one of our competitors and in fairness they were'nt playing aswell then as they are now.

Chelsea have a similar problem to us they have a riches of midfield players but find scoring goals a problem and also like us don't know what their best team is.

No, I think it will be more difficult to make top 4 this season more so than in the last couple of seasons but then the other contenders are thinking the same thing.

It is going to be a very exciting season I just wish I could look into the next couple of months and see how it develops but then it wouldn't be any fun would it?

Arsenal are a one man team again at the moment relying on Ozil to pull the strings and apart from that their squad is paper thin and that is worrying some of the goons I talk to, plus apart from us they haven't played anyone of note. Saw their game today and didn't think they were all that at the back. They will be found out soon enough. We on the other hand can only get better. Our problem is waiting for our new players to gel. Once they do we will batter a few teams this season.

we keep saying that about arsneal but they won 11 away games in a row.

they went on amazin run last season without ozil.

they have players to come back like the ox arteta pokdoski .

they are stronger then last season.
we all take the piss out of mertsaker and kolseny but they keep getting the results.

i do think our team is stronger and if they wont win nothing this season wenger will be gone and then ozil will be go aswell
