Harry Redknapp has tipped Sandro to shine in the Premier League as he prepares to hand the Brazilian his Tottenham debut against Arsenal.

Tottenham struck a deal to sign Sandro back in March but he has only recently linked up with his new employers after staying with Internacional until the end of their successful Copa Libertadores campaign.

Redknapp is now poised to select the 21-year-old for the first time in next Tuesday's Carling Cup clash at home to north London rivals Arsenal.

The Spurs manager has been pleased with the way Sandro has adjusted to his new surroundings, while the youngster also impressed in a training ground game this week.

"He's fine. He's a great lad and he has settled in well. He played well in the game and I will look to get him involved," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"Certainly on Tuesday against Arsenal there is every chance he will play and make his debut.

"We have been pleased with what we have seen so far."

Redknapp insists he would have no worries about throwing Sandro straight into Premier League action after the Carling Cup match.

"We will look at him and assess how he is going but there is no reason why he shouldn't do," said Redknapp.

"He's a good player. He's in the Brazilian national squad, he was away training with them in Barcelona last week so you can't be a bad player if you are getting into the Brazilian squad."

Some foreign players struggle to cope with the physicality of English football when they first arrive but Redknapp says that is one of the best aspects of Sandro's game.

"He's an aggressive, strong player. He gets around the pitch, he's a big lad and a really good competitor so the English game will suit him fine," said the manager.
