Hope you boys dont mind me starting this off? Right now the 1st thing into my mind after the Goon game on Sat wa lets give Van Der Vaart a rest here you can clearly see he is not 100% fit so maybe we could go for :-

    Gomes
    Hutton
    Gallas
    Kaboul
    Ekotto

    Lennon
    Jenas
    Modric
    Bale

    Pav
    Defoe

What ya think lads keep VDV fresh for Sunday or we may risk doing him a serious injury!!!

Had to laugh here Lee. VDV not at his best yet he assists two and scores one of our three goals at the sham.

Tickled me that, this is him on a bad day? What's he like on a good one?!?! lol!

I'm not too sure on this one myself, VDV is very effective in Europe. I think he'll play Defoe and, as he is no target man, he'd have to have a partner. Pav or Crouch as both are scoring in Europe. So I reckon he will be dropped to the bench in favour of the 4-4-2, as we're at Home, with Lennon, Jenas, Modric and Bale across the middle, VDV to be brought on if we're chasing a game.

Its a must win game, so we need to field the strongest team possible, if we dont win this, then we risk being eliminated from the CL.

I dont think Lennon will be picked, Harry's had to take him off the pitch to turn things around more than once reacently & I can see Harry thinking he will have more options if he dont have to worry about a weak right hand side.

I think what Lee was on about Ion is that VDV is still not fit enough to go 90 mins flat out and in that I think he has a point. VDV will need a match off sooner or later to get his energy levels back up, But this match is an important one so Harry will want him on the pitch.

Jenas has been excellent IMO and modric is a shoe in & I can see him wanting to get Defoe going as well but maybe no 90 Mins yet.

The other player Harry will want to give game time is Kranjca, it's going to be criminal if we loose him.

    Gomes
    Hutton Gallas Kaboul Ekotto
    Jenas
    VDV Modric Bale
    Crouch Pav
With a view to get Kranjca and defoe on & VDV & Pav off ASAP

I can see lennon being sold in the near future , i think when lennon is on his game he is undoubtedly untouchable , but them days are few and far between now , i can see Redknapp selling Bentley , Kranjcar , Keane , Palacious this window and maybe lennon in the summer, i just have a gut feeling about this and i can see us bringing in Ashley Young

i think the problem for lennon now is that hutton is doing a lot of what he used to do and hes not really sure where to slot in all the time when hutton is motoring down the right. hes finding himself lost at times

Tottenham Hotspur v Werder Bremen: Harry Redknapp wants Champions knockout stage place confirmed
Harry Redknapp could give Jermain Defoe his first start in the Champions League group stages as Tottenham search for the win that would confirm a place in the knockout stages.

Defoe returned from injury to inspire Spurs to a remarkable comeback from two goals down to win at Arsenal on Saturday and Redknapp wants to put qualifying in Europe to bed to concentrate on the league.

Spurs lead Group A following their impressive 3-1 win over Inter Milan three weeks ago, but Redknapp has warned his side not to take things for granted against struggling Werder Bremen on Wednesday, saying: “The group is still wide open. We need a result.

“You don’t want to be going into the last game away to Twente needing to win the game to get through the group. We need to put it to bed on Wednesday at home.”

The Germans have problems, however, and will not only be without captain Torsten Frings, who is suspended, but also former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre and striker Marko Arnautovic who are injured.

Silvestre has a back problem while Arnautovic misses out with a thigh problem. Bremen have lost five of their past six games

Also, if the red tops are to be believed, his outside night clubs a lot and smokes cigars!! christ if there cubans, they must be bigger then him!!

Seriously though, Harry needs to sort him out or I can see him going back up North to get away from the bright lights of London.

i wouldnt start defoe yet. we should ease him back. and start him sunday aganst liverpool.

    gomez
    hutton galas kaboul ekotto
    vdv jenas modric bale
    crouch pav

and bring on defoe for either crouch or pav and if we get into a comfy lead prob 5 0 up then my heart shouldbe fine lol and take off vdv for lennon.

lennon needs to come on when the game is stretched so he has space to run at them

Well what a throughly comfertable game to have. Thank you Bremen. No problems, no scares, no injuries. We could have had 7 or 8. Bale could have had a hattrick. Lennon got some confidence back. Crouchinio continues to rediscover his goal scoring mojo and it's official that we are one of the 16 best teams in Europe. This Chumps League stuff is quite an intresting lil sideline. And, for me, most importantly the luxury of a rare clean sheet. Huge boost for Gomes and the defence . . . . . . .

Bit p*ssed off with Mutton, kept overlapping Lennon, then fcuking up. it takes Lennon out of the game or forces him inside.
