signing a deal with Tottenham, with Spurs manager Harry Redknapp
weighing up a £15 million deal with the young star.
The Ipswich striker was coy on a move to a top flight English club,
telling reporters a week ago, “To be that highly-rated is amazing, but
all I can do is keep working hard on my football.
“I am signed to Ipswich for the next few years, and I am concentrating on that.
“I want to work hard for Ipswich and get them to the Premier League. Hopefully we can do that.”
Ipswich currently sit 15th on the npower Championship table, and are 11 points shy of the play offs for promotion.
But the Mirror believes that Tottenham are tempting Wickham with
games in Europe, and are hoping that Liverpool won't even qualify for
Europa League, and the starlet might find it hard to say no to Spurs
with this sweetner on offer.
Tottenham have a connection with Wickham that spans further than
their admiration of the 18 year old, with Bryan Klug, Spurs' assistant
academy manager, head of Ipswich’s academy when Wickham started playing
at the young age of 13.
Wickham has been linked to Liverpool on a number of occasions, and
with the wonderkid being related to Andy Carroll for his ability at such
a young age, all the big clubs are keen to gain his signature for next
season.
