Just a thought, who will arry buy, he talks about buying huge names, but who is there ? what & who could he be talking about

Spurs to mount summer transfer spending spree in bid to keep Luka Modric
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is preparing to make at least ‘one or two’ major transfer signings this summer in a last-ditch bid to keep wantaway midfielder Luka Modric out of Chelsea’s clutches.

Redknapp is keen to bring in at least ‘one or two’ big names to prove to the Croatian that he doesn’t need to leave Spurs to win titles, with world stars like Samuel Eto’o and David Villa already being mentioned around White Hart Lane.
Chelsea signed Liverpool striker Fernando Torres in January for £50million to show their ambition to prize the Premier League title away from Manchester United and mount a serious challenge in Europe.
And while Redknapp knows he doesn’t have Roman Abramovich’s spending power behind him, the former Portsmouth boss believes he can work the system to his advantage by picking up stellar names at bargain prices - as he did with Rafael van der Vaart last summer - to keep Modric happy.
‘We have to show him our ambition,’ Redknapp said. ‘If we can add one or two top players to our squad there’s no reason we can’t have another great season and Tottenham could be a great club for him stay at for the next few years.
‘He wants to win the league and play in the Champions League – [Spurs] want that as well.’
Redknapp revealed he had been contacted by a number of other big clubs in England, after speculation that both Manchester United and Manchester City had approached Spurs before Chelsea’s initial offer of £22million was turned down.
And the manager also admitted that, unless he can talk Modric round or find the right calibre of player to persuade him to stay, the Croatian would almost certainly leave.
‘Chelsea’s not the only club that’s been in for him - there are some other top, top clubs interested,’ he continued.
‘But it’s difficult to keep a player if he’s not happy - his head will go down and his form will suffer. I’ve seen that happen too many times.’
Modric claimed on Saturday that he had an agreement with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that the club would listen to offers from bigger clubs, if they arrived.
And his most recent statement suggested Stamford Bridge is his preferred destination, despite Levy’s suggestion the midfielder ‘is not for sale at any price’.
‘Chelsea are a big club with an ambitious owner,’ he said.
‘They have great players and they have ambitions to fight for the title and win the Champions League.
‘I have enjoyed my time [at Tottenham], but now it is right for me to look at
    another club.’

There's better and younger than ETO'o out there at the moment. He hasn't been in the same form lately as he was a couple of years ago. Personally I would rather see Higuin and Falcao.

Younger maybe, better .................. Name them.

Eto'o is at the top of his form at the moment, scoring 37 goals for Inter in a league traditionally renowned for its stingey defences.

He's not after a huge payday, just a team in a City he'd be happy in and challenging. If Spurs can hit the 6 figure mark with his wages then we'd get him IMO, particularly if we give him a good signing on fee.

Watch this space. It may be unlikely but Spurs have already made enquiries.

I would still prefer to see Higuin and Falcao although Falcao looks on his way to Chelsea now they have Boas as manager.

The other intersting fact about ETo'is that I remember Hoddle making a bid for him years ago but he chose Barca instead. They wanted 11 mil then which seemed a fortune. How times change.

TROUBLE WITH ETO, IS HE THINKS WERE BENEATH HIM. If he came it would be because he had no choice and he would do a berbatov. Play like crap until sold.

He THOUGHT that mate, and at the time he was right. However, he was extremely respectful towards the club when he gave his reasons and showed that he has an affinity towards us.

But times have changed now. Anyone with an ounce of Footy nous can see that we are on the cusp of being a genuine challenger and that it is Strikers that we need to take that extra step. He's been a great player for every club he's been at, but at all those clubs he's been just one amongst many. He's gotta know that if he is instrumental in putting us back on the top of the EPL pile then he'll be one of the names that'll be remembered for decades to come. Everyone wants a touch of immortality and for a Footballer, being part of a team whose players are lauded 50/60 years after they finished playing realises that. Look at us with the great '61 side. Liverpool with the side of the 70's. Utd with the Busby Babes followed by Ferguson's first team with Robson then with Cantona. The players that changed the clubs history. Does anyone remember the Liverpool players that won the league under Dalglish? Will anyone remember the Utd team that won the league last year in 50 years time?

I've seen it reported that Eto'o is a Spurs fan, or at least has a soft spot for us. This could end up being his bid for immortality with the team that he, possibly, dreamed of achieving it with in the first place.

He's already a multi millionaire so the money may well have far less of an influence than you think.
