Hugo Lloris loved his first North London derby at the Lane, insisting: "I could feel the intensity."

The French international goalkeeper immediately paid tribute to the team's defensive performance in a vital 2-1 win in the Premier League.

A quick one-two from Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon put us 2-0 up at half-time but Arsenal responded through Per Mertesacker five minutes into the second half.

We created the better chances from there and could have put the issue completely beyond doubt before Arsenal rallied again, to no avail.

"It was a great game with great intensity, I could feel that on the pitch," said Hugo, who wasn't seriously tested but at his best flying off his line to snuff out potential danger on a couple of occasions.

"It’s an important win. I think we kept control during the game, maybe we had some difficulty the first 20 minutes but we didn’t conceded a lot of opportunities and after the first and second goals, key for us.

"After the Arsenal goal we kept good intentions to the end of the game, but we had a great lucidity and it was a great performance."

The win made it four on the trot in the Premier League, stretched our run to 12 unbeaten and one defeat in 16 and moved us back into third place.

"We're all happy with the three points but the season is not finished, we have to continue in this form," added Hugo.
