    didnt anyone see the clip of that injurid owl on a pitch during a brazillian game and a player kicked the owl off the pitch.

    its nasty and i hate stuff like that. how would he like it if he was hurt and couldnt move and sumone kicked him...... i hope they do sumthing about this

    Yep, the World is full of people like that unfortunately. Animals were here long before us. Birds more so as they are descended from dinosaurs. I remember the the Youtube clip not too long ago of two idiots kicking a seagull to death. They got done for it but not enough IMO. If anyone ever touched any of my animals I would go mental. It seems most of us on here are Animal lovers. We had an incident not too long ago when some idiot thought it was funny to open the gates to our two horses field and let them out. If it hadn't been for the quick thinking of a local farmer and his Daughter they could have been killed or have caused an accident as they were running up and down a busy road. The Farmer and his Daughter were up and about at five in the morning knew they belonged to someone local and managed to catch them and put them in one of their fields until we were informed and could move them back. Some people are just idiots. It was an act of pure idiocy. Someone must have let them out through the night.

    The Owl didn't die, it was taken to an animal rescue facility where it is expected to make a full recovery from a fractured leg.

    And it was in Columbia Lought not Brazil.


    The player in question has been reprimanded by his club and could well expect a ban............................



    Plenty of time for him to reflect on his H-Owl-er!

    Owl kicked off pitch by player dies

    The live owl mascot booted off the pitch by an opposing team's player during a match in the Colombian league has died.

    Local vets battled for 30 hours to save the bird, an unofficial mascot for Barranquilla club Atletico Junior, but it is felt the shock of the attack killed it.

    Deportivo Pereira defender Luis Moreno, who delivered the deadly kick, has apologised and claimed he did not know the owl was Atletico's mascot and was just trying to get it off the pitch.

    Moreno, who claimed he has "received threats" since the incident, has been suspended for two matches and fined.

    "This animal was a symbol for the fans from Barranquilla," Colombian officials said in a statement. "Given that the aggressive act took place in their home stadium and in the clear view of all the fans, this act can be legitimately interpreted as provocative."

    Atletico Junior went on to win the game, 2-1.

    so the player didnt know the owl was the teams mascot. hes hardly showing any remorse kicking a defencless owl who was injuird. 2 match ban is laughable

    The poor Owl should have been tethered to a handler. How come the poor thing was allowed to get onto the pitch?
