Away for a while. Empty Away for a while.

Post by BazSpur Sat Jun 25 2011, 19:16

Due to the death of one of Jane's brothers we are having to go to Scotland (Aberdeen) for the funeral which is on Monday. I will be away until Wednesday. Hope you all have a good weekend and I'll post as soon as I am back. It's going to be a bad weekend for me and Jane. Nothing worse than going to a funeral but when it is so far away it makes it worse. Anyway, she is bearing up as best she can but as you can imagine she was devastated at the news even though he had been ill with cancer for some time and it was expected. See you all soon.

Thanks for all your messages you're all very kind and Jane really appreciated your concern and kind thoughts. Not long got in and we are both dead tired from all the driving. We decided to come back a day early and shared the drive from Aberdeen to Corwen North Wales which was nigh on a 12 hour trip with stops etc. The service was lovely and people came from all over the World to pay their respects to Jane's brother Ian. Ian was in the North sea oil business as a lecturer and so lectured all over the World. The crematorium was packed to the rafters and it was a very moving service although not without some humour as Ian's best friend paid homage by giving a Eulogy which was both sad and humorous as he related a few stories about him and Ian's time in Uni. The Humour was very tastefully done and he related the story of when they first met and him and Ian were to be room mates at Uni. Ian was a big fella with a great sense of humour. He was known as Big Ian or big man and when Ian and his best friend met his mate thought "My god I bet he snores like a train and farts like an Elephant" He went on to say Ian didn't disappoint on either count. He then went on to say Ian would be looking down creased up with laughter. He was obviously very moved at Ian's passing as we all were and I must admit I was crying along with everyone else. Ian's friend did very well to hold it together to give the Eulogy although he struggled at times. Thanks for all the memories and help Ian. RIP Big Fella.
