If Remy comes, who goes? Empty If Remy comes, who goes?

As rumours mount that Spurs have made an official bid for Nice striker Loic Remy, we have to again wonder which current striker will make way for the French international?

This summer, only Jermain Defoe has been immune from talk of his departure from White Hart Lane, but with Robbie Keane, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Peter Crouch and Giovani dos Santos, one move follows another as the media seem determined to find them another club.

To be honest, there does seem logic to every move as all four seemingly have reason to seek a fresh start, either by a lack of games or simply or not being deemed good enough to take Spurs forward, rightly or wrongly.

Talk in the last day or two is that Roman Pavlyuchenko is a possible target for Marseille as they have seemingly missed out on No1 target Luis Fabiano, who was of course a former Spurs target. Pav leaving is always a possibility, as despite being loved by the fans (for whatever reason) he simply doesn`t seem to have embraced English culture and the fact that he is in and out of the starting line up, only adds to the ammunition that he would be happy to leave.

Robbie Keane and Giovani dos Santos, are two other strikers who are always suggested targets for someone, with Robbie talked as being nailed on for a move to Villa Park until Martin O`Neil left, but talk of Celtic, Sunderland and god knows whoever else, it seems that rumour will continue right up until the deadline and probably beyond. The fact that he was only on the bench at the weekend, despite a very impressive pre season will only add to his frustration and add fuel to the feeling that he isn`t in Harry`s plans.

Gio has been linked with just about every Spanish and Italian club this summer and despite nothing being made official, it still doesn`t seem likely that he will be at Spurs unless he gets a real run of games. Has he yet convinced Harry that he will knuckle down and is he really happy to bide his time at White Hart Lane? Both might be publically happy at this very moment, but is this simply a marriage of convenience or just waiting until something better comes along?

Harry and Joe Jordan have spoken of their happiness with Peter Crouch, but like the others would he fancy the chance to play every game, even if that meant he had to drop down the league? With problems off the pitch and even the fact that Bobby Zamora impressed for England last week, could all be playing on his mind and if Spurs bring in another big money striker, will that make his worry for his Spurs future.

The confusion with Remy isn`t helped by the fact that he is a striker who isn`t typical of any of our current players. He has been labelled as similar to Henry and can happily play as a target or off of a main striker, even as a wide player. Certainly quicker that Keane, Crouch and Pav, but probably more of a mixture of all than a direct replacement for one. Comparing Crouch with Pav was easy, whilst Keane/ Bellamy or Gio/Young, doesn`t take much imagination, but who would make way should Loic Remy join in the next week or so???
