Reckon you maybe very close with that line-up Lought. Maybe Sgt Wilson or Sandra in midfield and 1 of either Pavy or Crouchinio up front with VDV in the hole ? Or maybe VDV on the bench to come on if things are starting to look wobbly . . . . .

Thats the team that started against Blackburn , Lought and I thought their winger Hoilet gave us a few problems down our right largely due toVDV drifting in but Im not to sure we will get away with exposing Hutton against the Goons ... Clichy and Arshavin will kill us down that flank if we leave Hutton exposed ...
So im tempted with this selection :
--------------------------Gomes-------------------------------
Corluka -------Gallas------------Kaboul------Ekotto
Hutton------------Jenas---------------Modric-----------Bale
--------------------VDV--------PAV-------------------------

i dont wana see us go out and defend and then wait until they score until we attack. keep jenas mordic vdv bale and attack and keep the ball. stop them from attackin to much by pushin them back,

I think both teams weakest areas are in central defence Lought so I'd feel its best for both teams to push on and not allow these players time on the ball....
Im not looking for gung-ho tactics but Im with you on attacking them ....I'd rather lose having a go rather than how we lost there last season.. Our defensive game plan that just collapsed in the space of a mad 60 seconds shortly before half time .. On that occasion we could point to our injuries for our tactics but I dont see it like that this time round.... Swift counter attacks and push them back when we can ...I go into this one, definitley with more hope then last season ...coys !!

Re: Match thread Vs arsenil
I will not be watching the match Saturday. Probably a good thing as my blood pressure suffers when we play the nomads. It has been decided there can be no suitable excuse for missing the wedding we are due at. Credit to the Wife she did go through various excuses with me but felt that telling an outright lie to good friends was not acceptable and I had to agree. I suggested just telling the truth but as the couple where at our wedding recentley and helped make it such a special day for us this idea was vetoed as well ! ! !
The Wife asked me what I am thinking of wearing on Saturday wearing & I replied.
"Probably my suit with a nice Fred Perry underneath, smart yet casual" (not telling that my Spurs shirt would be underneath)
"Oh", she said. "Why not wear the one we got you last Christmas ?"
Now the one from last Cripmo is a lovely Perry but red. Bought for me because I so rarely seem to wear red (my reply was that red is not really my colour !).
"Errrr what am I missing Saturday ?", I asked
"Just the football", was the reply (just the football ? FFS)
"Indeed", sez I. "But who are we playing ?
"That team you don't like much ?"
"Yes my love and what colour are their shirts ?"
"Red ?"
"Yes and if you think I'm wearing red on Saturday you've got another think coming ! ! !"
As I said not really football but just an incident from a fellow Spur looking forward to Saturdays game. I'm switching my phone off and asking a friend to text me the final score. Catholic wedding so may well be over by the time we're out the Church . . . .

Re: Match thread Vs arsenil
As for wearing red , my dad is a Goon and he thought it were a good a idea to buy me a red 3 Lions T-Shirt for my birthday and he joked about it as I unwrapped it, that red so suits me .... Needless to say , its rarely been worn lol

Re: Match thread Vs arsenil
Ekotto Gallas Bassong Kaboul
Palacious Sandra
Jenas
Modric VDV
Pavy
You would have to play with Pavy in this formation as the ball would be coming central rather than from wide . . . . .

Vis, I take it you mean Kaboul at right back and Benny at left back ?
Resting Bale ?
I think fast counter attacking is the Goons achiles heel as ManUre and the Chavs have shown in recent games against them , playing three up top too....
I'd like to see Pav with Bale & Lennon if fit, either side of him .. VDV and Modders assisting centrally and Perhaps Jenas to play a strict defensive role behind them ..

VisionarySound wrote:Intresting point you make about Gallas Arnie and possibly with some substance. It could also work for us as any stick may inspire him to have a 'blinder'! If Gallas dosen't play then I would move Kaboul to centre-half (presuming Ledley isn't fit) and put Hutton in at Right back. I've gone with Kaboul at R/B as he offers a more physical presence in defence than Hutton . . . .
Okies Ive just seen you want Kaboul at right back , you team sheet in the previous post confused me ...It's a good shout as he did ever so well last season in those massive games .....
Our club seem to be very quiet regarding who's fit and who's not at the moment , perhaps with the midweek international games this is understandable..... Maybe Ledders is fit and if so I'd have him on the bench with Kaboul and Bassong as starters...
Geez, what a headache this team selection marlarky is
Let's try again .... If these players are fit of course , I'd like this
__________ Gomes __________
Corluka _ Kaboul _ Bassong _ BAE
__________Jenas____________
____Modric_______VDV_______
Lennon____PAV________Bale ___
