I've been saying this for the last few match threads but this HAS TO BE a 3 pointer. The practice game against the goners and giving them another 2 goal start should put us in a good frame of mind for match . . . . .

Tottenham's Gareth Bale is a major injury doubt due to the knee injury he picked up against Arsenal in midweek.

Spurs remain without Alan Hutton, Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate, while Wilson Palacios is not yet ready to return from knee surgery.

West Brom travel to White Hart Lane without injured pair Graham Dorrans and Marek Cech.

Manager Roy Hodgson may hand a start to Carlos Vela after the striker impressed off the bench against Chelsea.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Tottenham

    Doubtful: Bale (knee)

Injured: Hutton & Palacios (both knee), King (groin), Woodgate (calf)

    West Brom

    Injured: Cech (groin), Dorrans (ankle)

    MATCH PREVIEW
Tottenham fans have barely had time to recover from Wednesday night's breathless draw with Arsenal before welcoming West Brom to White Hart Lane.

Many Tottenham sides from the past would have crumbled in the face of going 3-1 down to their bitter rivals, but Harry Redknapp's men are made of sterner stuff and they are determined to ensure that their Champions League experience isn't just a one-off.

Despite a paltry return of one win in six games, Spurs remain just two points behind Manchester City in the race for fourth place. But their failure to beat teams towards the foot of the table has been their Achilles heel in recent seasons, given that they have managed just one win against promoted sides in their last eight attempts.

Two years ago a Jermaine Jenas goal at White Hart Lane helped send West Brom on their way back to the Championship.

Their relegation fears this season have been calmed since the arrival of Roy Hodgson. They suffered the first setback of his reign against Chelsea last week so the Baggies will be keen to get back on track and secure their safety, and another priceless season of top-flight football.

    MATCH FACTS
    Head-to-head

    • In the last 58 league games between these teams there have been only 10 draws.

    • West Brom's last win at White Hart Lane was a 3-2 victory in November 1984.

    Tottenham

    • Spurs have won only one of their last eight matches against promoted opposition.

    • They are unbeaten in their last 14 matches at White Hart Lane in the league.

    • Harry Redknapp's side have scored in only two of their last seven games in all competitions.

    • Tottenham have scored 998 goals in the Premier League.

    West Brom

    • The Baggies have not kept a clean sheet in their last 31 top-flight games, an ongoing Premier League record.

    • Roy Hodgson has only won one of his eight matches as a manager against Tottenham.

    • Chris Brunt and Peter Odemwingie have both scored 12 goals for West Brom in the Premier League. If either of them score they will become the outright all-time Premier League top scorer for the club.

we had so many chances to overtake man c and keep blowing it. i wouldnt be surprised if liverpool overtake us. what a wonderfull job kennys doing with no gerrard or torres and loads kids,

even chelsea couldnt win a game for 3 months now look at them. it really does put into perspectiv how poor our league from is and today defoe gets hes 1st goal at home in over a year and yet a young player scores for man u.
