Spurs to Complete £10m Transfer of Premiership Frontman
Tottenham will complete a cut-price deal for Manchester City loanee Emmanuel Adebayor when the January transfer window opens, according to a report this morning in The Sun.
The 27 year-old Togo international, who was offloaded to White Hart Lane at the end of August, is having half of his astronomical £170,000-a-week wage bill paid by the Eastlands outfit but has certainly found his feet quickly for the Lillywhites.
In five Premier League games under Harry Redknapp, he has netted three times, looking like a real threat at the head of Tottenham’s attack.
With this in mind, though both Juventus and Paris Saint Germain are also interested in raking Adebayor off Roberto Mancini’s hands, it is widely thought that the player would favour a permanent role in North London.
In fact, The Sun suggests that City would offer a £4 million discount on the £14 million buyout option that was part of Adebayor’s loan in order to accelerate proceedings.
Free of such hefty wages, Mancini will have further license to chase targets like Edinson Cavani and Marek Hamsik, the Napoli pair generating large interest across Europe.
