Tottenham are looking into increasing the capacity of their planned new home to 60,000 to bring them in line
with north London rivals Arsenal.
Spurs have been granted planning permission to build a new stadium at
Northumberland Park close to their current ground at White Hart Lane.
Plans are in place for a 56,000-seat facility but government sources
say Spurs are looking to add at least another 4,000 seats and are hoping
this can be done without having to apply for new planning permission.
More the merrier: Tottenham hope to have room for 60,000 in their new home
Originally launched in 2008, the Northumberland Development Project (NDP) was scrapped due to increased
costs before being revived earlier this year as the club finally moved
on from the Olympic Stadium saga.
The Greater London Authority and Haringey Council put forward a joint offer
of £17million to help with infrastructure improvements as part of the
overall regeneration of the site.
The club will look to secure investment into the surrounding area to make
the £250m redevelopment financially attractive and, like the Emirates
Stadium which holds 60,355, securing naming rights will be key.
Anything you can do: Spurs' new stadium will be similar to the home of Arsenal
