So frustrating, we must have had 75% of the possession in that half and we can't put the ball in the net. Some do or die defending by Norwich though. The Ref again is poor. missed the smack in the mouth that Ekotto got and Ref didn't spot the pen.

Dont start all this again Ffs - how could a referee trying to look at at a free kick coming in from One direction see a trip that happened behind his back ?
Speaking of cards I see Bale is in good gymnastic form tonight

Bitterness Vis ? I doubt it - great second goal from Bale and my instinct is it will make the difference

What I was hoping to head off was the usual ' the ref is a cheat' bollox when things don't go your way

On another day Gallas would have walked

thought ekotto played very well tonight, assured at the back and getting down the wing at every opportunity. suprised at 2- nil up pav didnt come on for ade to give him a rest seeing as he took a bit of a knock earlier. very good performance all round, well pleased.

    Norwich 0 - 2 Tottenham

Match Thread Vs Norwich City - Page 2 _57587576_57587573
The Norwich defence had no answer to the pace of Bale

Gareth Bale struck twice to underline Tottenham's title credentials with a comfortable 2-0 win over Norwich.

Bale shot over before the break but found his range in the second half.

The Welshman swept home Emmanuel Adebayor's lay-off from 10 yards out before his searing pace took him clear of the defence to clip home a second.
Spurs are within seven points of the top, four points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea and five ahead of Arsenal with a game in hand on all around them.

The trip to Carrow Road was a chance for Harry Redknapp's side to take advantage after their two closest London rivals and leaders Manchester City failed to take maximum points from Premier League clashes in the last two days.

After an even opening quarter, the visitors' greater quality told through Bale, who snuffed out the Canaries' hopes of a fightback with a blistering run for the second.

Norwich's attack centred on a front pair of Steve Morison and Grant Holt, but Younes Kaboul at the heart of the Tottenham defence dominated in the air.

Instead, Norwich were mostly restricted to long-range efforts with Morison and David Fox trying their luck from distance early on.

Tottenham also initially struggled to create genuine goal-scoring opportunities, with Bale, Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart zipping passes around to little effect.
Their first clear opportunity duly came courtesy of a mistake from Russell Martin, who was hustled off the ball by Bale, but the midfielder scooped his finish well over the top as he bore down on the Norwich goal.

That chance seemed to spark Tottenham into life.

Emmanuel Adebayor's touch proved a fraction heavy as he guided Van der Vaart's exquisite long ball round John Ruddy, before the goalkeeper did well to smother Bale's shot from Modric's weighted pass.

Tottenham finished the first half in the ascendancy and should have had a penalty when Morison cynically tripped William Gallas as they waited for Van der Vaart's free-kick.

Referee Michael Oliver failed to detect a foul in a crowded box and the Canaries escaped down the tunnel with the scoreline still blank.

After his two earlier misses Bale found the net within 10 minutes of the restart as Adebayor held off a mob of Norwich defenders with strength and quick feet before laying the ball off for him to send a scuffed finish bobbling past Ruddy's outstretched hand.

Norwich pressed forward in pursuit of an equaliser but inevitably left themselves exposed them to Tottenham's ability to break at speed.
When the home side surrendered possession in midfield, Modric had space and time to play in Bale, who surged through the remnants of the defence from the halfway line and dinked a composed finish past Ruddy.

With Norwich unable to prise their way back into the game, Tottenham's travelling fans took the chance to taunt north London neighbour Arsenal, who had drawn 1-1 at home to Wolves earlier in the day.

Martin almost gave the Norwich supporters a consolation to cheer when his header drifted wide of the upright in stoppage time.

    Norwich boss Paul Lambert:

"It's disappointing to lose but we gave it everything we had. They've got quality all over the pitch.

"I've got to have a realism factor, where we came from and the team we are up against."

    DID YOU KNOW?
Tottenham have collected more points (38) from their last 15 Premier League matches than Manchester City and Manchester United (both 36)

Gareth Bale has everything says Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has saluted Gareth Bale as a player without a "weakness in his make-up".

Bale scored twice as Tottenham won 2-0 at Norwich to record their eighth win in ten Premier League games.

Redknapp insists only the world's richest clubs could afford the Welshman but clarified Bale is not for sale.

He said: "If we sell him, we've had it haven't we? It would only be a Barcelona, a Man City or a Real Madrid who would be able to pay for him."

Redknapp could not hide his admiration for the 22-year-old, who has now scored eight goals for Tottenham this season, as well as three for the Welsh national side.

The Tottenham manager added: "He's an amazing player. He's got everything, there's not a weakness in his make-up.
"He can head the ball, he's as strong as an ox, he can run, dribble and shoot. Most important of all, he's a smashing lad."

Bale joined Tottenham in 2007 for a final fee of £7m but that price tag has soared in recent seasons with powerful performances in the Premier League and in European competition.

His hat-trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League in October 2010 thrust the Cardiff-born left-sided player into the world spotlight, but Redknapp reiterated that any approach from England or abroad would be rebuffed.

"They [Barcelona, Man City, Real Madrid] are the only ones who could afford to pay the transfer fee and his wages, but he isn't for sale.

"The chairman has said he isn't for sale. If you are looking to go somewhere you don't go and sell a player like him."

Tottenham are seven points behind leaders Manchester City, with a game in hand, and lead fourth-placed Chelsea by four points, also with a game in hand.

Despite his side's excellent run of form, Redknapp refused to be drawn on the chances of Spurs winning the league championship for the first time since 1961.

He added: "It's not impossible. It's very difficult but I never said we couldn't win the league. We have to just keep picking up points and see where that takes us."
Tottenham travel to Swansea on New Year's Eve, when the former Portsmouth boss hopes to have more selection options.

"When everyone is fit we are very strong," Redknapp added.

"Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone are on their way back and Jermain Defoe could be back for the weekend."

Redknapp has previously hinted that he is hunting a "special" signing in the Janauary transfer window.

    GARETH BALE AT TOTTENHAM

    2011-12: 18 games (8 goals)
    2010-11: 41 games (11 goals)
    2009-10: 34 games (3 goals)
    2008-09: 30 games (0 goals)
    2007-08: 13 games (3 goals)
