Roman Pavlyuchenko sets sights on firing Tottenham into Champions League - but refuses to commit on future at the Lane By Ashley Gray Last updated at 5:30 PM on 17th March 2010 Roman Pavlyuchenko admits he doesn't know where he will be playing next season - despite forcing his way back into the Tottenham Hotspur side. The Russia international says he has left his winter depression behind after getting a regular start for Spurs and hitting eight goals in his last six games. But just a few weeks ago, Pavlyuchenko was so convinced of his departure that he sold his second car and cancelled subscriptions to satellite TV channels. 'Now I'm only thinking about the rest of the season,' he said. 'Tottenham have a good chance of finishing in the top four, which is worth a place in the Champions League, so we shouldn't miss this opportunity. 'And we are fighting for the FA Cup. So when the season finishes in May, then I will think about the future. 'I'm not in a hurry to make responsible decisions, such as in February, when I was sure that I would leave.' Roman Pavlyuchenko scores Roman conquerer: Pavlyuchenko has been in goalscoring form Lokomotiv Moscow came closest to striking a deal for Pavlyuchenko in the winter and intend to renew their interest at the end of the English season. But Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was reluctant to lose the former Spartak Moscow star in the winter and now sees him as a regular starter alongside Jermain Defoe. 'When you have constant playing practice, you perceive everything in positive way,' added Pavlyuchenko in an interview with Russian newspaper Sport Express. 'I am not going to guess how many goals I will score in the ongoing championship, so let’s count them only at the end of the season.' |
