Tottenham Hotspur travel to Old Trafford on Saturday 24th April in boyant mood after two consecutive 2-1 home Premier League wins over London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea. Harry Redknapp will be delighted with the form Spurs have shown since their shock FA Cup Semi-Final defeat to Portsmouth at Wembley and the team performances since then have been outstanding. Jermain Defoe scored the first goal against Chelsea from the penalty spot after John Terry's handball and a further goal came from the vastly improved Gareth Bale after being put through by Roman Pavlyuchenko. Spurs dominated the second half, but failed to add to their score and a Frank Lampard goal deep into injury time was simply too little too late for a Chelsea team who had been out-played and out-classed by a rampant Spurs.

Manchester United had earlier won their local derby against City thanks to Paul Scholes header scored deep into injury time. That win, coupled with Tottenham's result over Chelsea, has left United just one point adrift of first place in the League. Saturday's match is bound to be a cracking affair with both teams needing a vital win to secure their various targets this season - the League Championship for United and fourth place with Champions League football for Spurs, who leapfrogged City into 4th after the win over Chelsea at White Hart Lane.

The reverse fixture at the Lane earlier last September was won 3-1 by United, who became the only team this season to put two or more goals past Spurs at home this season. In fact they are the only team to score more than once at White Hart Lane in the League since Harry Redknapp took over as manager. United did the League double over Spurs in 2008-09, as well as winning the Football League (Carling) Cup Final at Wembley on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes.

Manchester United's current squad features two former Spurs players - Michael Carrick who joined United in August 2006 for £18,600,000 and Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov who joined United in September 2008 for £30,750,000. Tottenham's first team coach Joe Jordan was a striker with Manchester United from 1978 to 1981.

    TEAM NEWS:

Ledley King only just failed a late fitness test for the Chelsea game and he should be available for the trip to United. Aaron Lennon, Vedran Corluka and Jermain Jenas are all on the road to recovery and some of them may well be in contention on Saturday. Jonathan Woodgate, Carlo Cudicini and Niko Kranjcar all have more serious problems. Wilson Palacios is available again after serving a two match suspension.

Manchester United have Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown set to return after injuries but Danny Welbeck, Michael Owen and Anderson are all ruled-out.
