Kudus Oyenuga struck twice as our Under-18s beat Manchester United 3-1 in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The lads took control in the first half and grew in stature as the game progressed.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 25th minute when he got into the box and swept the ball home with his right foot.

Kane was involved in the second goal seven minutes later when he controlled Ronnie Hawkins' diagonal pass before squaring for Oyenuga to finish.

United pulled a goal back during their best spell just before half-time.

Undetered, the lads stepped up a gear after the break and substitute Jessie Waller-Lassen had already gone close before Kane was upended in the box just after the hour mark.

Oyenuga made no mistake from the penalty spot, finding the bottom left corner as the goalkeeper dived the other way.

"We played very well," said coach Alex Inglethorpe. "The lads have recovered from competing in the tournaments in Belgium and Holland and it looks like they've taken plenty out of those tournaments as well.

"We were good in the first half and dominated the second half.

"We went 3-1 up and there was no holding on at the end, no last-ditch scrambles and if anything, we could have scored more.

"We controlled it and that's a positive but at the same time, we know it was a pre-season friendly, so we can't read too much into it."

The lads will now prepare for Saturday's opening match in the Premier Academy League at Derby.

Spurs: Archer (Miles, 70); Tapping, Janori, triallist (Ekong, 60), Durojaiye, Francis-Angol; Dombaxe (McAvoy, 65), Hawkins (Barthram, 46), Munns (Waller-Lassen, 46), Luongo; Kane, Oyenuga.

I would liked to have seen that game Max. I noticed earlier that it was on United TV and tried to get on, hoping that they may open it to non subscribers as it was only an Academy friendly, but no go.

Thanks for the report, it will be interesting to see how many of those guys will actually make it.
