Re: Spurs unsung heroes !
I raised a legitimate question. It was removed even though it was not offensive in any way, just like a dictatorship would do things.
Idi Amin was a dictator, hence the post.

Remove my first post and then make out i've tried to hijack the thread by inserting something rubbish about Idi Amin.
Very clever, - a sure fire way to win.

Re: Spurs unsung heroes !
I'll give you an unsung hero that most of you would never heard of let alone see play. I can do this cos' I'm so ancient.
His name was Tommy Harmer and he was at Spurs in the early fifties. He was a great dribbler of the ball and could make the opposition at times look stupid. He was very slight and looked like the wind could blow him over but he was a magician with the ball.
There was one magical moment that has always stood out in my memory and sums up his skill perfectly.
It was a league match at WHL against Sunderland and their star player at that time was the great England star Len Shackelton who could also do great things with a ball.
This particular day Shackelton picked up the ball in his own half beat 4 Spurs players flicked the ball up and hit a ferocious shot that had the the Spurs goalkeeper, Ted Ditchburn beaten all ends up and hit the bar and bounced away.It would have been a great goal.
Seconds later Harmer picked the ball up from Ditchburn and went on this amazing mazy run across both sides of the pitch flicked the ball up played "keepy uppy" for a few seconds and hit the ball in the back of the net.
Me and the rest of the crowd went wild, even the Sunderland supporters. It was something straight out of Roy of the Rovers comic.I was only 9 or 10 but it has stayed in my memory all these years.
