Tottenham’s Clint Dempsey: Season in numbers

It’s been a strange season for Clint Dempsey, because he’s managed to put together a very reasonable report card without every really being at his best – or looking particularly comfortable in the Tottenham team.

Here are some of his statistics from 2012/13 so far:

    – Has made 18 Premier League starts, in addition to 6 appearances from the bench.

    – Has scored 6 Premier League goals, making him SPurs’ third-highest scorer behind Gareth Bale and Jermain Defoe.

    – His goals are equally split home and away.

    – Has provided 3 assists, as many as Kyle Walker, Mousa Dembele, and Jan Vertonghen.

    – Averages 2.3 shots per game, third-most at Spurs.

    – Has a pass-accuracy of 81.8% across the season.

    – Averages 1.1 key passes per game.

    – Is fouled 1.7 times per game, more than any other Tottenham player.

    – Is dispossessed 1.7 times per game, second-only to Emmanuel Adebayor.

    – Has made 6 starts in the Europa League, and 4 substitute appearances.

    – Has scored twice in Europe this season, both goals coming away to Basel

He's improved as the season has progressed Lought and as an early doubter of his I am becoming, slowly, impressed with him. Still not sure what his best role is though but I would like to see him played in the "hole" behind Defoe, feeding the pace of him & Lennon and Bale rather then Bale playing that role. Saying that Bale has scored the goals to have that role ahead of him . . . .

Far too often Lought. I wonder if he'll be at The Lane next season? Wouldn't surprise me if he's not but in all truth I was critical of the guy early season but he has had a consistent run of late and has looked good . . . .

i think ade needs to go. i would rather get a proper striker in and keep defoe for the bench and games when we rotate

we do need a decent striker but the problem is going to be wages and also the prospect of missing out on the 4th spot and champions league football . if we get the 4th spot and then we should be able to attract a decent net busting goal machine that the mighty spurs needs . dempsey is not a bad player but i cant see him getting the 20 to 25 goals we need from a forward . you cant question his work rate but mr levy needs to dig deep to get our man .like i said benteke get in quick before anyone else .

If we don't get 4th maybe it's worth trawling players just under the radar? Might just find another Clive Allen along the way . . . . .

we had chances in the uefa cup to play him but didnt.

chelsea rested loads of players and have got this far without really trying.

another thing all this stuff about playing to many games well chelses have played the most again yet they have only had a few players get injurid.
