I like the look of your team LoveLoveRocket but do wonder what Defoe has got to do to get into the starting lineup of AVBs team. I am not knocking Soldado but feel that he should start getting the goals that warrant his transfer fee. Also a player I feel is turning out to be a great find is Holtby, he is a workhorse and his passing is becoming first class, I believe he will become a Spurs great. That pass over the top of the Villa defence to set up Defoe reminded me of John White. I do hope we hang onto this lad, I do not want to see him sacrificed in order to keep the big money signings happy. But I have to admit, looking at your team I would not know who to leave out in order to fit him in.  It's like Sigurdsson another player I rate, there is talk that in the January transfer window Liverpool could come calling for him to sign for them. I know we need to hang onto these players but I would not like AVBs job of trying to keep them all happy, it's a great problem for him to have but a problem all the same.

i can see soldado is good but i spose if the sub is scoring then he does deserve a start.
but dont forget we played amazing aganst cardif away so is it wise to change it because defoe scored a few goals aganst some nuffing team and aston villa reserves.

That also looks good LLR. Just one point I would like to make, where could you fit Holtby in, or do you not think he is good enough to replace any of those in your team?. As you say mate, it gives AVB so many options, this has to be one of the best squads we have had, unless anyone can remember a better one, the only one I can remember is the double side, it was said our reserve side could have held it's own in the old first division if it had been allowed to play in it.

I like holtby and townsend both are direct  andros need when to shoot and when to pass , i love holtbys work ethic a lot , so many options for avb lets hope all plyers play on merit and not on repertation.

With AVB in charge I believe it will be on merit and not if the face fits as in the days of Harry who had his favourites no matter how they played.

exactly. harry had 11 players that would play every week no matter of form and run them into the ground. hes bench was players that was either not good enough or no match fitness.


i think holtby deserves a start over siggy. holtby set up 3 goals on tuesday and is a player that will pass if thats the better option.

siggy is another player that seems to shoot a lot..

I honestly don't think you can pick a best team only one to suit the game and conditions.

Regarding Defoe, as I've said before, better used as an impact player and as Lought has said on many occasions he gets his goals in the main against the lesser sides. In his last 25 games against the top sides he's scored 7 times not good enough for a so called predator The most he ever scored in one season was 18 and 5 of those came in one game. Don't get me wrong I think he is worth his place in the squad but not as a first choice striker.

i wouldnt play defoe and erikson away to stoke.

Yes i do like Holtby and think he's a very good player,,,,,,,,,,,,but the fact he's not in my first team and subs say more about the strength of our squad.
Sure i never used Sigurdsson or Townsend either.
