The part that annoyed me is at the end where he suggests that our players now wouldnt even know
where we finished 5 years ago or even who Dave Mackay was.
I understand the point he was trying to get across but making that statement stuck in my side a little.
Our players should know our history with how much they get paid at least surely.
Monday morning 9am - 9:30am Spurs history. rest of day penalties!!
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp insists he is pleased with his side's progress in the Premier
League despite a run of poor results.
Following an impressive start to the season, Spurs have seen their goal tally dry up of late,
drawing four blanks in their last six league games to fall to sixth in the Premier League.
However Redknapp is satisfied with his side's progress since he took over 16
months ago when they were languishing at the bottom of the table.
"Listen, if you'd said at the start of the year we'd be where we are, and still
in the FA Cup, I think everyone would have said 'fantastic'," said
Redknapp."People get carried away. Suddenly people think we're
going to get in the Champions League. We can still make the Champions
League, make no mistakes."We've still got a great chance of
making the Champions League and I'm delighted with how we've done,
fantastic. We've played some great football."I sill want to get
into the Champions League and I think we've got as good a chance as
any. I don't see any reason we can't do it, we've got a big chance.
It's going to be an exciting end to the season."
Impact
Since beating Wigan 9-1 earlier in the campaign, Spurs have failed to see off
teams and have particularly missed the impact of winger Aaron Lennon
through injury. But the former Portsmouth boss refuses to compare
his side to previous Tottenham teams who have failed to deliver when it
really matters despite their recent run of poor results.
"It's a new team. I don't go with all that rubbish. How can that have any bearing with what's happened in the past?" he said
"These players don't know what happened four years ago, they probably don't even know they won the double in 1961!
"They wouldn't have heard of Dave Mackay. They wouldn't have a clue where Tottenham finished five years ago."
