French publication L’Equipe claims that Paris Saint Germain midfielder Stephane Sessegnon is being tracked by Tottenham Hotspur as Harry Redknapp looks to steal the Benin international from the grasp of former club West Ham United.
Spurs are thought to be ready to offer a fee in the region of £6.5 million for the 26-year-old playmaker; a figure which trumps that offered by the Hammers and one that is deemed acceptable to the Parc des Princes hierarchy.
Sessegnon moved to Paris two seasons ago after the Ligue 1 club beat off competition from Newcastle United and Arsenal to snap up the midfielder from Le Mans. He has since become an integral part of the set-up in the French capital but is understood to be frustrated at last season’s 13th place finish in the league.
The opportunity to play Champions League football is thought to be a serious fillip for Sessegnon who has yet to taste top level European football despite his impressive qualities.
Harry Redknapp is known to be on the lookout for midfield additions before the transfer window closes as he looks to build and consolidate last term's fourth place fininsh. Since signing Sandro from Brazilian side Internacional the Lilywhites have yet to spend further cash this summer although Scott Parker is thought to have been approached about a move to White Hart Lane.
