The 21 year-old defender arrived at Tottenham alongside fellow Blades youngster Kyle Walker in an £8million deal but has yet to make a Premier League appearance. Walker returned to Sheffield United on a loan deal last season and Naughton looks set to follow suit.
Naughton himself enjoyed a loan spell at Middlesbrough last season, but according to the Daily Mail Sheffield United boss Gary Speed is keen to bring him back to Brammall Lane on loan.
Naughton developed through the Sheffield United youth system and joined Tottenham having established himself as an important first team player at Brammall Lane in the 2008/9 season during which time he also made his England under-21 debut.
A talented young defender, Naughton has found himself behind the likes of Vedran Corluka , Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Alan Hutton at White Hart Lane, but will hope to enjoy first team football once more at the Blades.
