Roman Pavlyuchenko is keen to sign a new contract at Tottenham after erasing all thoughts of returning to Russia. With Robbie Keane on his way out of White Hart Lane, Pavlyuchenko’s agent claims Peter Crouch could also be sold thanks to the former Spartak Moscow striker turning around his career at White Hart Lane.

Fewer than 12 months have passed since Pavlyuchenko sold a car and cancelled his Russian TV subscription in anticipation of a move to Lokomotiv Moscow, only to force his way into Harry Redknapp’s plans.‘Redknapp wouldn’t sell Pavlyuchenko now,’ the 29-year-old’s agent Oleg Artemov told Russian newspaper Sovetskiy Sport. ‘The same can be said of the chairman (Daniel) Levy.‘Three months ago, Levy suggested Roman sign a new contract on improved terms. We are in negotiations and discussing the details. Keane will most likely be sold and maybe Crouch.’Pavlyuchenko is still not a guaranteed starter but has appeared in 19 games this season - scoring eight - earning some glowing praise from Redknapp.

His transformation is in part down to a resolution in the summer to give everything to his career in north London. With interest also coming from across Europe, Pavlyuchenko told his agent he had no intention of leaving England and uproot a wife and child who were adapting well to London.‘Roman isn’t even considering the option of returning to Russia anymore,’ said Artemov. ‘He has changed greatly over two-and-a-half years in London and has a different perspective.‘If we extend the contract with Tottenham, Roman will probably never play again in the Russian championship.’
