    good month Empty good month

Post by Guest Fri Nov 18 2011, 14:46

As Tottenham regroup after the international break, the Lilywhites will be aiming to pick up where they left off in the Premier League.

With seven wins and a draw from eight games, Spurs will resume a devastating run which has produced 22 points from a possible 24.

Yet, for all of their success and momentum, the Lilywhites still sit in fifth place, outside the top four with Newcastle still sitting proudly above them.

However, a look at the upcoming league fixtures suggests that all of that is about to change because, while Tottenham have relatively plain sailing ahead of them, their rivals are about to enter some very choppy waters.

In terms of the current standings, eighth-placed Aston Villa are the highest-ranked side that Spurs will face in their next five matches, between November 21 and December 18.

And, after three home wins on the bounce against Liverpool, ars*nal and QPR, the Lilywhites will be confident of beating the Villans at White Hart Lane on Monday night.

After that, in the lead-up to the busy Christmas programme, Harry Redknapp’s side will take on four bottom-half teams in succession – West Brom, Bolton, Stoke and Sunderland.

Of course, it is always foolishly premature to even consider assigning points to these games in advance.

Back in February, Tottenham faced Blackpool, Wolves, West Ham and Wigan in succession – and took just three points from that run.

However, it is a very different Spurs team this campaign – a side who have answered every question that has been asked of them since the transfer window closed.

They may not be able to keep their winning run going up until the home clash with Chelsea on December 22, but the Lilywhites will certainly hope to remain unbeaten until then, and win more games than not.

Meanwhile, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle will all be taking points off each other in the coming weeks, providing another boost to Tottenham’s cause.

Having stubbornly remained unbeaten so far, Newcastle will now face a real test of their credentials as they take on Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea in succession.

The Magpies will do well to stay ahead of Tottenham over the next month – and the same is true of Chelsea, who only lie ahead of Spurs on goal difference.

The Blues also face a tough run now, starting with a home clash against Liverpool this weekend, with a trip to St James’ Park and a meeting with Man City to come.

Elsewhere, after shooting to the top of the league, Manchester City are now set to take on four of the top seven teams in their next five games – Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea and ars*nal.

Of course, the fact that Liverpool are about to meet Chelsea and Man City in consecutive weeks can only strengthen Spurs’ position in the race for the top four.

The Premier League table is likely to look rather different in a month’s time and, with the kindliest run of fixtures, Tottenham are poised to take advantage of the war that is about to break out around them.

A ruthless run of results against lesser opponents could take Redknapp’s side past Chelsea and Newcastle into third place by mid-December – still with a game in hand – giving Spurs fans even more of a reason to look forward to Christmas.

Gotta say that does seem rather promising, you'd expect us to pick up 12-15 points from them 5 games but even if we only get 10 points then you'd still think we'd be sitting comfortably in the top 4.

Bring it on, a win on Monday night and I will genuinely think we will have a decent chance for top 3!

3 home games in our next 5 you would think we should pick up a few points plus we will still have a game in hand over chelski who i believe we will go above anyway, a*se-nal exposed there defense and i think we will beat them i very confident .
