Very sensible to sign him up and my guess is he was probably on a (relatively poor) wage

Trouble is what do contracts mean

You want to sign a player who has a contract - so what

Someone wants to sign your under contract player ?

    A player wants out ?

Yup Nic shame this ain't in other teams section rather then Spurs because then we could all think of lots of other teams players your previous post applies to but as this is about a Spurs player, the young PFA player of the season Kyle Walker, this is great, as a Spurs fan to hear. Quality lad Kyle & a player many other teams would like to have. . . . .

The survival of football in England depends on payers signing with, staying with, and flourishing with clubs

As fans that is what we support

The current money insanity is destroying football

Why is it a brave choice ? Because if KW has another season as good as his one and continues to develop as a player then he could be a target for clubs willing to double or treble his wage as well as guarantee CL football and a better stab at silverware than Spuds

So its not a brave choice then, because as you said he may need another season before any of the "big" clubs come in for him.

We could also stand firm like we did Modric, another on a long contract.

Think about it Dave - Brave to the extent that KW could have said he'd leave it and talk to the club, or not talk to the club for that matter, when his current deal moved towards its end.

It may be there have been enquiries already hence the enthusiasm to get his signature on new contract.

I know what you mean mate. The greatest example of just how meaningless a contract really is was when that Judas suminanbitch Modric just upped and went to Cheatski in spite of Daniel Levy's insistence that he was contracted to us and couldn't go whether he wanted to or not.

Err, hang on a minute ...........
