Q & A with jermain defoe

hey guys
so,
last night i went down to the lane with my cousin burchy, we went into
the bill nicholson lounge, and met jermain defoe, asked him several
questions, and he was completely open to any questions, and gave great
answers.
ive never met jermain before, but ive gotta say he is probably the
nicest guy and professional i have ever met. he was really down to
earth, funny, and all in all a top guy.
questions asked were along the lines of the modric saga, adebayor,
defoe's life, young days at charlton and west ham, goals, champions
league, arry redknapp and various other bits n bobs.
when asked about adebayors influence in the camp and what banter is
there about arsenal etc, JD responded, simply - adebayor doesnt like
arsenal, he does not like them. i thought that was quality !!!
great night, got a signed shirt, couple of signed programmes too.
in brief there was a lot of questions, so ill just summarise them into
little bits n bobs, jermain was asked about his life and what influenced
him and what not, he's answers were.
"when i was younger i lived in a rough part of east london, and it was
hard growing up there, after each match when i was a kid, loads of
scouts would come over to my mom and hand her their cards, they said
phone us, your lads got a lot of talent. so me and mom would go through
them each night and she would take him and pick me up from everywhere,
she was always there for me, and i owe a great part of my success down
to my mom, id look out my bedroom window and see my mates outside on the
bench drinking and smoking, and as a teenager it was hard not to get
involved, but my mom always said to me bed at 9, if you wannt to make it
you've gotta do your best"
that answer is from several questions that was asked by a few of us at
jermain, he kept saying what an influence his mom has been, even at the
newcastle game, his mom came into the dressing room and was telling him
about something, and all the lads were ripping him about him, then his
mom turned round and told them off too !!!
he also spoke about the banter around the training ground and at the
dressing room, he was talking about 'nut megging', there was a video
recently of piennar nutmegging someone and clipping his heels in
delight, jermain was saying that gazza did it to walker and gazza ran
off screaming his head off and going mental, and then later when they
were eating, jermain went to him, did you nutmeg someone earlier, and
bale was like nah, dont think so, and then he asked him again but was it
a LB or RB, gazza, nah, oh yh i remember it was walker, as walker sits
between defoe and bale. other things were like how bentley was the
stupidest dafest bloke around the place, jermain said how he would brush
his teeth at trainging, and he was like, just why havent you done this
before you came out.
also mentioned at the game on sunday, defoe had the chance to square the
ball across to adebayor, and ade wasnt happy, and even after 5 minutes
he was still going about it, and defoe was like shut it, and then at
training defoe got reminded that ade didnt pass to him at one point, so
they just spent around 15 minutes ripping each other.
said what a great signing ade and parker are and what they bring to the
squad, he is glad luka stayed as he likes luka and think's he's a
talented guy and a good friend.
joe jordan is always angry apparently according to defoe, you ask him if
he's ok or had a good day and jordan bites your head off, and defoe's
like im only asking.
arry hasnt changed at all in the last 10 years since defoe has played
under him at 3 clubs, sticks to the same way of playing, just now he has
got quality around him.
what brought him back to the lane.
when he scored the penalty against us for pompy, yiddos were singing his
name, and wanted him back, and then one game was televised, and peter
storie (pompy chairman) phoned jermain and said turn on the tv, the
spurs fans are singing your name, they want you back, and jermain said,
yh i know, i gotta go back, and he did. he never wanted to leave in the
first place, just issues with contracts and ramos.
adebayor does not like arsenal one little bit !!! according to JD
his fav goals are always vs arsenal, his 5 vs wigan and his hattrick for england
he loves bob marley and drake
being a pro theres nothing he really misses, like beer etc, because he
has always been on a strict fitness and diet and lifestyle, mainly
controlled by his mom, and still is
the fitness coach he went to see in france in 70 and a right fruitcake, but a lovely guy
gazza bale is a nutter, brings the party to the trainging ground
bassong is loud, attention seeker
pav's dress sense is awful, recently he wore white skinny jeans, some
awful gucci top and flip flops with socks on, if one things gucci then
everything is gucci, top, belt, pants, jeans, socks, shoes, watch,
aftershave. he has to have everything by the same brand, gucci was used
as an example.
he loves it at the lane
anfield, old trafford, beranbau and WHL best grounds he has played it
him and vidic always argue at matches, once vidic said your so small you
come up to belly button, and defoe turned round and said you see my
goal, i just scored a great goal, it was quality, and vidic went, if you
gotta say something come up to my face and say it, so defoe said you
out in london tonight, and vidic said yes, lets go out together !!!
loads more on the night, thats the main things really, some of the bits
ive put in there were hilarious last night but they dont sound that
funny, it was the way jermain was describing it, quality !!!
