Similar line-up to tonight for me Lought. Sandro if fit in place of Carrol but not much else different. I would trust in both Lloris & Naughton still. Is it 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1? Or 4-3-2-1-1? I dunno lol . . . . . .

Adabadback can play in this one as he isn't a loanee anymore. Couple of quid on him as 1st scorer anyone? Football can be funny like that sometimes . . . . . .

I hope he does start Lloris Lought. This is the kind of game he could shine for us. The problem is it could work the other way and he end up a bundle of nerves. Does anyone know what has happend to Gomes, is he on loan, injured or just can't get in the squad?.

Surprising news from Etihad Stadium, where Jermain Defoe has been dropped to the bench by Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas, despite scoring a hat-trick against Maribor in midweek. Emmanuel Adebayor starts against his former club.

Friedel, Vertonghen, Gallas, Caulker, Walker, Bale, Sandro, Hudd, Lennon, Dempsey, Ade. No surprise really as AVB said he would play the lone striker away to City. But why Gallas instead of Dawson? Lloris should be in goal IMO.

Chris Bevan at Etihad Stadium, BBC SportManchester City v Tottenham (1330 GMT)

"It is a bright autumn day at Etihad Stadium as Manchester City look to put their European problems behind them against a Tottenham team who have also been stumbling in recent weeks. The last time Spurs came to Manchester was when they won at Old Trafford in a thriller at the end of September when the pace of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon tore United's defence apart. City's defending in the Champions League suggests they might have similar problems handling that duo, as well as their former striker Emmanuel Adebayor, but Roberto Mancini's men will point to the best defensive record in the Premier League, not to mention the only unbeaten one, as evidence they are a much tougher nut to crack in domestic fixtures."

    Supersub Defoe !

One up top, Ade, with Defoe on later in the game makes sense.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas on not starting Jermain Defoe against Manchester City: "I obviously spoke to Jermain but for the benefit of the team today we have opted differently."

On his side's chances of winning: "There are teams who want to put an end to our form away from home and City, as English champions, certainly have that power. It is certainly going to be a very difficult game. We want to express our football, we want the players to feel good on the pitch and express their talent. If their motivation is right I think they can do something special."

WTF is going on with Citeh? They are one angry football team lol. For some reason this game is making me feel very nervous. Just keep riling 'em into giving away free kicks and I can see a couple of Citeh players having to walk. Mancini looks like he is uninterested on the sidelines. Defoe for Dempsey for me please. Not a bad 1st half at all for us . . . .

For me Adabadback should have been dropped deeper to replace Dempsey when Defoe came on. OK Dempsey seems to be my whipping boy (and he is) but he seems to bring nothing to the team. I reckon Mancini must have laced the half-time oranges with Valium & Mogadon 'cos the anger running through Citeh in the 1st half seemed to disappear . . . . .

sorry Lought, but Dempsey offered nothing, Bales worst game in a Spurs shirt, poor Verts no help at all. Good job we had Sandro or it could have been a cricket score. Walker needs a break, did not find one Spurs shirt all game and was at fault for their first. Avbs subs dodgy again, had to be Defoe for Dempsey and he takes off the only player in Ade that could keep hold of the ball. We just are not capable of fluking games, but like always, if you have money, you can bring players like Djeko on, it's just not a level playing field anymore. The sooner we can get Verts into the centre, the better.

Disagree about the result thought we deserved a point. Agree about Ade though his hold up play was really good and I think thats why City lost their rag, couldn't get the ball off him. Wrong decision to take him off Dempsey should have gone. Lennon kicked out of the game the first tackle on him was horrendous and deserved a card and the next 3 times he got the ball he was fouled and seemed to lose confidence.
Also I don't think I've heard a more biased commentary on Sky.

    yep dempsey was rubbish again.
should be dropped. why take ade off and leave him on.
i can defend ade because he tried today.
bale was awfull and didnt offer jan no help. and one good break we had he went for glory again.

we played a man c team lack on confidence with no nasri and we still play bad.
why when we had the ball on edge of our area could we not find our own passing.

would like to see 442 aganst the goons and go fire with fire
drop galas dempsey and bale for defoe daws stiggerson and it might give bale a kick up the backside
