That's what I thought would happen .
With no Dembele and a tiring Huddlestone, Carroll as an option also not being used at some point was disapointing as our passing game needed to be seriously improved in the later stages of the game.
I thought Dzeko would score and he did, what a sub he is and they could even afford to drop Ballotelli to the stands.
We have to be realistic , they had their fully fit squad and we didn't.

we had attacking players but avb wanted to park the bus again.
AVB under alot of pressure. If & it's a big IF he loses next weekend to us making that 4 losses on the bounce. what are the thoughts .. acceptable?

No of course not Lought , none of us like to lose but they're a fully fit Man City, whilst we're missing a few of our best players like Kaboul, Benny , Dembele who are all decent players on the ball. Dissapointed with our play on the ball as you are but I'm just trying to throw in some realism too.
Also throw in the fact that we played on Thursday and they played Tuesday.

Re: Match Thread Vs Manchester Citeh
Friedel - 6 - Decent performance, made a couple of decent saves. Not anything he could do about either of the City goals really.
Walker - 5 - Not as bad as he has been recently, but he just doesn't link up with Lennon well at all.
Gallas - 5 - Not a great performance, didn't have the intelligence to cover for his lack of pace.
Caulker 7 - A good performance from the young lad. He did very well coming across to cover for Vertonghen numerous times.
Vertonghen - 5 - Is not a Left back by nature. Then again most natural left backs would suffer facing Silva and Tevez.
lennon - 5 - Didn't really run at anyone which he always seems to like doing. Worked his socks off defensively though.
Huddlestone - 5 - Let his man past him on a number of occasions. Doesn't do as well when he is closed down and not allowed time on the ball.
Sandro - 8 - Devastating. Dominated Yaya Toure at times which is not an easy thing to do.
Bale - 4 - Did nothing. In fact he did worse than nothing. The few times he did get the ball he shot at goal. Bar the one shot on goal he did get which was a bizarre combination of multiple defensive errors by City players.
Dempsey - 5 - Got involved at times in the first half, but faded in the second.
Adebayor - 8 - managed to create and hold the ball up on multiple occasions when nobody was helping him. Also because he manages to irritate defenders to the point which they do stupid things.
AVB - Justified starting eleven, but not helped by the failure of his wingers to turn up. Playing on the counter without them is difficult. Slightly odd substitutions.

During a season of transition it is but there are so many who will say no, bring back Droopy. Such is the nature of fans . . . . .

James Presland on Twitter: "Does AVB have any idea what he's doing? How does he expect to stay in the job if the team plays like that?"
Robbie Savage, BBC Radio 5 live
"Why Spurs played such a high line at the back is bizarre
Greg Matthews on Twitter: "You deserved that Spurs. You cannot try and defend for 70mins and expect to win. Negative football."
