Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of former Arsenal defender William Gallas on a one-year contract.
Gallas, out of contract after leaving the Gunners, had only to complete a medical and agree personal terms.
Spurs have also retained the right to extend the contract of the
33-year-old, who also played in the Premier League for Chelsea, for another season.
Gallas will join a select band of players who have turned out for
Arsenal and Tottenham and the move is likely to be controversial with
some fans of both north London rivals.
But Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said on Friday: "It's all cobblers.
"What's he done? It's not the Yorkshire Ripper I'm signing, is it? He's a footballer, he plays football."
France international Gallas was part of the Chelsea side which won
back-to-back Premier League titles after moving from Marseille.
He joined Arsenal in 2006 and captained the team in the 2007-08 season.

Well having said he is past it burg i think you stand to end up with egg on your face.
If you look at harrys managerial record he has taken on so called over the hill players before and had them back to their best for a couple of seasons, not talking about tottenham but certainly at west ham years ago he did.
Im not saying that gallas is going to be the backbone of the spurs defence for years to come but at 33 he certainly isnt a spent force as you make him out to be.

Probably would have done rather than play for your mob any longer. whinger wanted him but couldn't keep him. He's decided to join a team that upholds the proud traditions of the beautifull game & sportsmanship. And fair play to him eh Burgs . . . . . .

burger777 wrote:so u r seriously trying to tell me that gallas took a 1 year contract at a lesser team for lesser wages.
He took the same contract period as you offered him, from your fiercest rivals, and he did it for less money.
When a player chooses to do that it is because he is trading up.
What we are SERIOUSLY trying to tell you is that he REJECTED a 1 yr contract from a LESSER team in order to play for a BETTER one, even though it cost him money.
You couldn't make it up really, even Judas had to get top dollar to be persuaded to play for you ............................
