I shall get back in due course however when I am sober elephant

So Enic took over with Spuds in a "dire financial position"

    Utter claptrap

Enic invested in a money making enterprise that had been saved in the 90s by Sugar. They were at the time investing on a number of football clubs and the EPL gravy train was clearly not a service they intended to miss

And Sugar made a tidy profit as you recall

Now how would he have done that if he were selling a part or the whole of a business in "dire" finanancial shape ?

I never realized you regarded Spuds as a 'nonentity'team for most of the Noughties
    Admirable honesty

One wonders whether you might have achieved respectability if Levy had not played to the crowd by appointing Hoddle, ballsing up with Santini then stabbing Jol in the back ?

Seems to me that a club with Spuds resources should be, and should have been doing rather better than they are

After all it was under Sugar that you last won a major trophy and finished above AFC

Does it matter Nic ? It's penned by a Ghost writer. I'm sure there are other sports people who may have been illiterate but whose pride stopped them from making the fact public. The idea of a Ghost writer is to make columns digestable by the reader and to make money for the newspaper and the person who puts their name to the column. It isn't a showcase for the celebrities academic skills . . . . . .

True, which is why I said we were in the process of recovering from it, no mention of how far along in the process we were.

Damn them beer goggles hey? Shocked

Enic invested in a money making enterprise that had been saved in the 90s by Sugar. They were at the time investing on a number of football clubs and the EPL gravy train was clearly not a service they intended to miss

And since then they have taken the club onwards in the manner I previously posted.

Good to see you are agreeing with me.

And Sugar made a tidy profit as you recall

And we were so wishing he'd lose money.

Damn those businessmen and their success stories........... And their beer goggles!

How indeed? Good job I never made that assertion wot?

I am a purveyor of truth Baz

In this instance debunking the blind faith some of your brethren have for Daniel Levy by highlighting the facts rather than the self serving myths of his dubious reign

Hmmm, Well I don't think it's blind faith so much as he's the boss and there's feck all we can do about it. I am sure if there were big problems they would have been spotted by others apart from one lone goon voice mate. TBH, from my point of view if I had to choose between the Scolar years and the Levy years. I would take where we are now.

A fair point Baz - not as utterly meglomaniac as Scholar but as I said to Ion not that different to Sugar

And I think there were a few "big problems" over the 11 years Baz - the debacle of Hoddle's reign, the nine month search for Santini who then left after five games, Jol's sacking, the disaster of the Ramos' regime and then the squandering of £20 million on the Stratford project.

If Arry had not pulled the nuts out of the fire in the past three seasons your record would be no better than mid table cannon fodder

For the most part Levy has had a manager to blame and carry the can, or Commolli, or "everyone else" in the case of Stratford - well it wont go on for ever Daniel

I know they are my words, shame you can't read them correctly. English 101, the key words are 'still recovering' We might have achieved some stability but we were nowhere near the financial health we were in before Scholar f*cked us, Sugar only took us part of the way.

Fairly simple really, wonder how you could have missed that, what with you being the expert on all thing financial at Tottenham.

Sugar sold his 26.9% share of Suds to ENIC in December 2000 for £22 million or 80 pence a share

The shares were trading at 55-56 pence the day before, and the day after

    Q. If Spuds were "still recovering" wtf would ENIC do that ?

    A. Spuds were by 2000 a money making enterprise, sat aside the gusher of PL income and ENIC recognised that

Its all out there mate - if you look
