Aitch and the Rolling Deal - Page 4 Empty Re: Aitch and the Rolling Deal

    An article I found.

There is a growing feeling of uncertainty around White Hart Lane, with Harry Redknapp‘s future at Tottenham
still up in the air. Overlooked for the England job, the manager has
just a year remaining on his Spurs contract, and has instructed agent
Paul Stretford to negotiate him a new deal. But as the Life’s A Pitch team discusses, chairman Daniel Levy appears reluctant to agree to any long-term plans.

“He’s gone from being in a position of bargaining strength, when England wanted him, to bargaining weakness,” says The People’s Janine Self of the Spurs boss. “Daniel
Levy knows Redknapp would have gone to England. Everything’s gone on
hold, it was a disappointing end to the season. Levy holds all the
cards. And it’ll be interesting to see whether Redknapp doesn’t walk away this summer.”

The Daily Express’ Ian Ridley believes Levy is
seriously considering a change of manager. “I think the chairman is
bargaining as well, making Redknapp sweat. Biding his time, putting his
foot on the ball. I think Levy wants to see what type of manager might
be available to him before he sits down with Harry.”

While feeling that Spurs should do all they can to keep their manager, former footballer turned journalist Adrian Clarke wonders if both the chairman and Redknapp himself are worried that there’s little more he can do for the club. “I saw him [Redknapp]
quoted as saying he wanted three more years to build a new Spurs, to
take them to the next level. I wonder whether he or Daniel Levy really
believe in that project, or if they feel they’ve gone as far as they can
under Redknapp and whether a change might be best for both
parties. Personally, though, I think Spurs would be crazy not to try to
    keep hold of him.”

More managerial chat sees the panel look at whether Wigan’s Roberto Martinez would be a good replacement for Redknapp; the appointment of Paul Lambert at Aston Villa; the chances of Chris Hughton taking over from Lambert at Norwich; and the possibility of Dennis Bergkamp becoming Swansea’s boss.
